We're six months in to our 2026/27 financial year, so we thought we'd give you a little update on what we've been up to since April!

We've raised £30,221 through donations and fundraising events, which is a brilliant amount - our target for the full financial year is £50,000 so we're well on track. 👏

So far, we have issued seven grants to local families to help them get through a very tough time. Our instant grants relieve the financial pressure that follows a child's life-threatening diagnosis. Travelling to appointments outside the area, staying overnight, paying for childcare for siblings, and loss of earnings can make a traumatic time even more troubling. 💚

We've also started a mini-project making some improvements to the parents room, as it's 10 years since we first transformed it into a comforting space for families visiting their child.

It's through your support that we're able to make a difference to so many local families. THANK YOU😘

Best of luck to our fundraiser Glyn, who's completing his 60 mile swimming challenge today!

Glyn set himself the challenging target of swimming 60 miles in 10 weeks, in celebration of his 60th birthday this month. By the end of today, Glyn will have completed 3,840 lengths of the leisure centre pool. What an incredible achievement 👏

Good luck with your final lengths today Glyn, we know you'll smash it!! We're sure your colleagues at TEX Plastics will be cheering you on to the finish line 💚

Our fabulous fundraiser, Glyn Davies, from TEX Plastics has almost completed his epic swimming challenge of 60 miles for his 60th birthday!

Glyn took to the water on 1 August and has been averaging five miles a week at the leisure centre. He aims to finish his challenge on Friday 9 October, in time for his 60th birthday 🎉

Here’s Glyn pictured with colleagues from TEX Plastics, as he celebrated reaching the halfway mark 💪

Glyn has just five miles left to swim and has swum 3,408 lengths of the pool since August - incredible!!

We have two charity places in the TCS London Marathon 2027 - would you like to run for us?

Next year's London Marathon takes place on Sunday 25 April 2027. You could be part of the world's biggest and most iconic marathon, by applying for one of our charity places.

Signing up is easy - complete our online application form using the button below. Applications will close in July and if you are successful, we will send you an email and further information. You will be asked to pay a £100 registration fee and you must commit to raising at least £2,000 for Care for Kids. Good luck!!

Congratulations to all our runners today, a brilliant effort from you all! 💪

Well done to our fastest female, Pauline Davies with a time of 43 minutes 41 seconds and our fastest male, Ryan Palethorpe, who ran in 36 minutes 59 seconds.

A big shout out to all our teams, especially speedy BluGem who have retained their crown from last year 👑

What a morning! Thank you so much to everyone who made today’s 10K possible - runners, sponsors, volunteers and spectators! We couldn’t do any of it without you.

We’re off for a rest and refuel, and will post photos later. But we’ll just leave this one picture here, as it sums up what our event is all about ❤️
