We offer a wide range of services, activities, events and training designed for everyone in North Devon. Sunrise is a community support organisation who aim to celebrate diversity, challenge discrimination, and change attitudes. Primarily focusing on the needs of people from diverse communities including migrants, refugee and asylum seekers, people of colour, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Sunrise wa

s first established in October 2009 as a social group for refugees, migrant workers and asylum seekers; however it soon became apparent that users were facing a range of issues and difficulties which were not being addressed by local service providers. In response, we started supporting users and runs a range of services and activities to cater for the needs of diverse people. Services for diverse individuals are free of cost and include English language classes, groups, and conversation clubs, 1-1 support, guidance and advice. We organize events in Northern Devon that celebrate diversity in the wider community. We also can provide training and workshops to groups, organizations, and businesses. We at Sunrise Diversity need your help. We have had an increase in people asking us for help with acquiring baby/family related items👶👨‍🍼 We have helped as much as we can, but we are asking our community if anyone can help us further🙏

📧 🍼 If you have any baby/family related items that are clean and in good condition that you would like to donate, please email [email protected].

🚗 In particular, we are looking for a car seat for a newborn baby that is in good condition and has not been involved in a car accident.

We’re recruiting a Community Outreach Caseworker to provide one-to-one support and advocacy for people facing discrimination, isolation, and barriers to accessing services.

This role will support migrants, refugees, LGBTQ+ people, and others from diverse communities, helping people navigate challenges such as housing, benefits, employment, and accessing their rights. You’ll manage a small caseload of clients with more complex needs while also delivering a drop-in service for practical advice and support.

💷 £15,210-£18,243 (£25,015-£30,00 FTE), depending on experience

It was so lovely meeting Colin from Appledore Pride yesterday at Sunrise and we are 💯 backing this wonderful event. The day will be incredible! From story telling and writing, music and DJs, a cocktail Safari and of course march and parade led by the samba band.

Please take the bus if you can, or head there nice and early to get parked up. This is THE north Devon pride so join in and have fun! 🌈

We know so many people have enjoyed and look forward to the Sunrise Diversity Festival and LGBTQ+ Prides, which we unfortunately aren’t organising this year due to needing time to stabilise after a challenging year.

In the meantime, we are over the moon that there are wonderful events taking place this summer and we know they will be brilliant so put them in your diary!
