βš“The Big Help Out on HMS Belfast! βš“

Today, four cadets from Banbury Sea Cadet Unit, joined other Sea Cadets from the London and Southern Areas to take part in the Big Help Out onboard HMS Belfast; a nationwide volunteering campaign across the UK designed to inspire people to try volunteering, lend a hand in their communities, and make a difference.

As, today, 6 June 2026 marks the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings during which HMS Belfast was the flagship of Bombardment Force E, supporting troops landing on Gold and Juno beaches - it seemed fitting that Sea Cadets joined the volunteers from Imperial War Museum on board the permanently moored museum ship located on the River Thames in central London.

The cadets had a wonderful guided tour of HMS Belfast and took part in a creative workshop (results to be revealed).
