Dark Ages Society - Historical Re-Enactment Wassail! We are a unique historical re-enactment society which recreates life in Britain in the time of King Alfred the Great through historical characters.

Huge thanks to for taking the lead in our shared display at this August, showcasing the museum's current amazing Anglo-Saxon exhibition (seriously see it if you can it's fab). The fighters in particular worked so hard and I don't know how they avoided collapsing with heatstroke.

This is our third appearance at Kingston upon Thames. This year's bunfight was the Saxon Fayre, showcasing daily life. We were lucky to have a stall right next to the community blacksmithing project with their mobile forge! It was the first outing of Othere's ingeniously compact display of useful plants, which was an absolute crowd please as he'd carefully prepared the plants so you could really see what they looked like, as he explained their properties and uses. Weapons and armour was a hit as ever, especially with families, and I flew the flag for historical board games.

Many thanks to for inviting the Dark Ages Society to greet visitors to guests arriving at festival by train to Hampton Court station. What's not to love when you combine two nerdy hobbies? And many of the public were keen to pose as Anglo-Saxon warriors.
We didn't have a trumpet but were absolutely ready to blow our own horn!
And finally, on the social media platform better known as Twitter, we had our moment of fame as Tom Holland posted a picture of us queuing for tickets: https://x.com/holland_tom/status/2074155057541484873
