🌟Congratulations to yet more DofE award holders here in Bucks!! 🌟

Below are the latest five cadets to be awarded their Duke of Edinburgh’s award through Bucks ACF this year, bringing our total up to 42 so far - 26 Bronze, and 16 Silver.

Could you be next? Now is the perfect time to get started on your volunteering, physical, and skills sections ahead of the 2027 expedition season starting. If you’re in year 9 and above you can enrol from today - just speak to your DC or Area DofE Officer for more information.

In the lead up to Remembrance Sunday, to help inspire and motivate the cadets; 19th Platoon Kent's Hill, Buckinghamshire (The Ri**es) ACF had an external speaker from the Royal British Legion who gave a presentation on the importance of Remembrance Sunday & the poppy appeal. Delivered by a former cadet, who went on to serve his country in the Parachute Regiment and now works for RBL.

Mike Lewis ex para spoke about his life from starting out as a cadet, training as a soldier, being wounded whilst on patrol in Afghanistan, and about his road to recovery and the important work of the RBL and the upcoming Poppy appeal

The platoon enjoyed his detailed talk with questions taking up over 45 minutes

Promotion Alert!!

Lt Lad
Lieutenant Lad’s Army Cadet journey began in 2011, spending five years as a cadet before becoming a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer in 2016, marking 15 years of dedication to the Army Cadet Force.
Throughout their adult service, they have held roles including Detachment Instructor, Detachment Commander and, most recently, Company Training Officer for Talavera Company, focusing on cadet training and supporting fellow adult volunteers.
Their commitment to personal and professional development has seen them complete various leadership courses, most recently the Army Cadet Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
As Lieutenant Lad begins this next chapter, they look forward to continuing to support Talavera Company and the wider Battalion, while further developing their skills and leadership in the years ahead.

Lt Wright
Lieutenant Wright’s Army Cadet journey spans over 12 years, including five years as a cadet, progressing to CSM and CUO, followed by 7 years and 5 months as an adult volunteer.
Throughout their adult service, they have held a variety of roles, from Detachment Instructor and Detachment Commander to Area Training Officer for Pegasus, contributing to cadet development and the restoration of basic cadet training across the area.
Their dedication has been recognised through the award of the Silver Sword and a Brigade Commendation for Excellence in Instruction. Having completed numerous instructional qualifications and, most recently, the Army Cadet Commissioning Course, Lieutenant Wright now begins the next chapter of their service.
A proud milestone built on dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Army Cadet Force.

Pegasus Company has officially launched the new cadet year with a brilliant weekend of training! 🎉
Our NCO cadre was a huge success, giving cadets the chance to develop, lead and push themselves — and they rose to every challenge.

The weekend ended with the Champion Platoon competition, where the result came right down to the wire. Congratulations to 9 Platoon, who will hold the title for the year! 🏅
A fantastic effort from all cadets and a great start to an exciting year ahead.

🏆🏆 Bucks Uniformed Youth Challenge Competition 2026. 🏆🏆
Inter-service Cadets from across Buckinghamshire came together to showcase their skills, teamwork, discipline, and determination — and they did not disappoint.
With challenges including archery, first aid, crime scene investigation, memory, even flying model helicopters, the cadets gave it their all.
No silverware for Buckinghamshire (The Ri**es) ACF this year, but each one should be proud of their efforts, your professionalism and enthusiasm are a credit to the ACF.
We extend our sincere thanks to Buckinghamshire Uniformed Youth, the dedicated volunteers, instructors, and supporters whose hard work ensures the continued success of this important annual event.

🎖🎖 Buckinghamshire Lord-Lieutenant Awards 2026 🎖🎖
Thursday night saw Cadets and CFAVs from Buckinghamshire (The Ri**es) ACF being recognised at the Buckinghamshire Lord-Lieutenant Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony hosted by The Lord-Lieutenant, The Countess Howe recognizes exceptional service and dedication.

Cdt Cpl Patel - 3rd (Missenden) Platoon was appointed Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet 2026-27 .The highest honour a young person in the cadet forces can receive. Chosen cadets serve for one year, helping the Lord-Lieutenant at official royal visits, parades, and civic duties.

Mjr Targett - Salamanca Company, WO2 Edwards - Salamanca Company, WO2 Price - County Training Wing; all received Meritorious Service Awards These are awarded to members of the UK Reserve Forces (Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Marines Reserve, Army Reserve, and Royal Auxiliary Air Force) and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) for long, loyal, and valuable service.

The inaugural best Tri-Service Cadet award for the county was presented to Cdt CSM Caraba - 4th (Aylesbury) Platoon. The award recognizes top-performing young people across the combined cadet services—including the Sea Cadets, Army Cadet Force (ACF), and Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC)
