Delighted to be joined by Helen Maguire MP to celebrate the recently announced removal of time restrictions on free bus travel for disabled people.

We were honoured to welcome Helen to our new Ashtead Centre, which we're excited to announce is now equipped with a live bus and train departure board, to help us continue supporting Surrey’s sensory loss community.

Helen met our team, learned about our specialist support for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind, and discussed the challenges faced by local residents, including employment barriers and recent changes to the Access to Work scheme.

A huge thank you to John for more than 35 years of dedicated volunteering with our charity.

Following his diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa, we supported John on his sight loss journey. Since then, he has become an incredible fundraiser, volunteer and advocate, regularly sharing his experiences of sight loss through community talks and workshops.

John is also a familiar face at our Fetcham Community Hub, where he enjoys connecting with fellow attendees and staff.

In our video, a few of our staff from this year’s British Sign Language (BSL) Level One class are celebrating that they’ve successfully completed and passed their exams.

Congratulations to this year’s class and a huge thank you to BSL teacher, Cathy, for her patience, kindness and for inspiring our students. Well done everyone!

A huge thank you to Holly, Fraser, George and Finlay, our fabulous Croudace Homes volunteers! They served up a delicious barbecue of hot dogs, burgers, drinks and mouth watering melon for our children, young people and their families at our water sports experience with our Children's Team.

Nicola O'Donnell, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey told them, "You did a fantastic job on the barbecue, especially battling the heat, and we’re incredibly grateful for all your help." It gave our parents much-needed time to relax and chat together after a busy morning on the lake.

It was a scorching hot day at our water sports experience at Heron Lake!

To help our children and young people fully sense and enjoy the speed and excitement of the water, our Children's Team (CYPS) organised a range of thrilling activities for them to have a go at: paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, a trip in a speed boat and the doughnut-shaped ringos - Always a big hit!

After all the action, everyone enjoyed time to relax and connect over a family barbecue, thanks to Croudace Homes, who sponsored our barbecue and worked the grill. We're so grateful to Access Adventures for taking such great care of our children and young people and for ensuring the experience was accessible and enjoyable for all.
