GIRES is sharing on behalf of National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation.

On 20 January 2026, the Investigation launched an online Call for Evidence across England for people to share their experiences of maternity and neonatal care to help inform its national recommendations.

Organisations, families, and other individuals (e.g. researchers) wishing to submit evidence to the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation can submit that directly to the team’s mailbox: [email protected].

They’ve also created a page on the website with information on how people can submit evidence: https://www.matneoinv.org.uk/updates/organisational-and-further-evidence-submissions-to-the-investigation/
The deadline is 17:00 on Tuesday, 17th March 2026

GIRES is Sharing, on behalf of TransActual
💼🧏 Trans workers and allies, we need to hear from you! 🔨

TransActual is launching a Workers Survey to show the impact of last year’s Supreme Court judgment, the EHRC interim guidance, and the recent High Court judgment concerning the Workplace Regulations 1992 on workplace policies and practices that impact trans and nonbinary people’s ability to go to work with dignity and privacy.

We want to hear from trans workers and allies about any changes your employer has made to policies and practices regarding trans inclusion since the Supreme Court ruling.

We need this to help us make the case that the Government must change the outdated workplace regulations that are creating a worker’s rights crisis for trans people.

What Recent Tribunal Verdicts Clarify About Trans Inclusion in the Workplace - GIRES Statement on the Sandie Peggie verdict and the Leonardo UK Judgement

Two significant judgments have been handed down in recent weeks - the Sandie Peggie verdict and the Leonardo UK ruling.

Both cases were brought by individuals with ‘gender critical’ beliefs. Both were framed in public debate as tests of whether the 2010 Equality Act now requires the exclusion of trans women from women’s spaces, and in both cases, the claim that all women’s spaces should ban trans women has been rejected.

The tribunals were clear that the Supreme Court’s ‘For Women Scotland’ decision does not create a blanket ban on trans women in women’s services or workplace facilities.

GIRES encourages organisations to seek expert legal advice when developing or reviewing policies, especially in this rapidly evolving area.

It is also advisable for organisations to ensure that they hold appropriate insurance cover so that they are supported if legal claims arise.

The message from the courts is now consistent.

🚫 There are no blanket rules.
🚫 There is no automatic exclusion of trans people from facilities or services.
✅ The Equality Act continues to operate on case-by-case assessment, guided by proportionality and evidence.

10/12/2025

Trans rights are human rights. This principle is simple, grounded in evidence, and central to international human rights law. Yet it is increasingly contested in public debate.

Today is a reminder that every person has the right to safety, dignity, privacy, family life, healthcare, education, and participation in society without discrimination.

👉 These rights do not change because someone is trans or gender diverse.

The phrase "trans rights are human rights" matters because it recentres the conversation on what is truly at stake. It pushes back against attempts to treat trans people as an exception to the rules that protect everyone else. It affirms that equality is not conditional and that human rights frameworks exist to safeguard those most at risk of exclusion.

On Human Rights Day, GIRES stands with trans and gender-diverse people across the UK and beyond. Protecting their rights strengthens human rights for all.

Would you be willing to take part in a one-to-one interview to share your experiences or personal reflections on trans masculine life and history?

You can choose whether you would like to be named or be anonymous in any write-ups or research outputs, whichever feels most comfortable for you.
