This level of direct Governmental research funding is pitiful on all fronts!
In the past we've been told through NIHR that this is due to 'insufficient quality of applications' or simply that the 'science is not there'

Over the past decade and with YOUR support luckily we have added over £2.1m for specific DIPG research and clinical trial support.

We must ask ourselves whether this gauntlet that numerous DIPG families pick up worldwide, really should be for those who've already suffered the worst imagineable losses, in the worst circumstances. Imagine knowing those figures and currently being in the fight!

We do acknowledge in the oral question response the 'indirect' Governmental funding support, and infrastructure provision that does underpin the delivery of any brain tumour studies within the NHS.

The more pertinent question for us however is, within the 261 studies that were delivered in the decade between 2014/15 and 2024/25....
How many were for children, or had any relevance to DIPG?

You can write to your MP's and push the agenda for all patients by asking them to support the debate on Monday 15th June.
Head to braincancerjustice.org for more information.

"...Completing 72 holes in one day will be a tough challenge, both physically and mentally, but it pales in comparison to the battles faced by children and families affected by DIPG...."

On June 16th, fellow Ashford (Kent) Golf Club member and friend Gary Payne is taking on the challenge of playing 72 holes (4 rounds) of golf in one day! ⛳
Anyone who knows a golfer and how long just one round can take, knows this is no mean feat!

Walking in excess of 50,000 steps, and taking a least 12- 16 hours to get around the course, we shall be joining Gary to play his fourth and final round on the day.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund life-changing research and provide hope for families facing this heartbreaking disease.

Waiting for something five months in the future, normally feels a 'way off'
But not for a child with DIPG....and not when its YOUR child.
When you're living 'it', and watching 'it'

From the very first onset, to the prolific frightening speed of this disease...the debilitation, as every day function gets brutally stripped away.
They lose so much.
Then you lose them... and all those years of life ahead that were holding so much promise.

Five months is actually no time at all, for family life to look totally different.
We carry this understanding for every family experiencing the hardest way to live.... at every stage.

Because sometimes you have to look back...just to see how far you've come... 👀

On this day in 2013, an amazing team of 20 women had just completed The M.A.D. (Mums Against DIPG) Challenge! Lake District May 2013
It was the fundraiser that bought together three DIPG mums, family and friends on an epic 24 hour adventure in the Lakes.
The challenge raised £100,000, which shows the power of collaboration and what can be achieved when committed teams come together...it funded our very first grant and a PhD position in the Jones lab at The Institute of Cancer Research

That PhD study was a seminal moment in DIPG discovery, and 'The identification of ACVR1 mutations in Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma'
13 years on is more than two of Abbie's lifetimes...yet the messaging in this video is still so current.
Despite the statistics time has seen an explosion in research and early clinical trials, areas of hope that need full exploration in order to put the treatment path together that WILL lead to longer lives....

Anita and Liz 'there's no stopping us right now'...how could we ever forget 💗

Today, May 17th is DIPG Awareness Day—a time to recognise the children and families we've come to know who have faced...or are currently facing the most devastating childhood brain tumour, and to reinforce why work to fund crucial research matters.

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) remains one of the most urgent, unmet needs in all oncology, without cure and very limited treatment options.

The breakthroughs so needed for patients who can’t afford to wait, seem to feel too slow and too few.
Only family led foundations truly understand the urgency of this which has driven us and everything we do for over a deacde!!!

If you do only one thing today, please stand with the DIPG community—patients, families, charities and advocates—it is their strength that continues to inspire action and accelerate change.
