ROAR Kent

ROAR Kent A lived experience recovery organisation bringing support, connection and hope

29/05/2026

It was good to see some familiar faces at our homeless drop in project this morning. Hopefully this means that word is getting out that we are still open to support the Thanet rough sleeping and homeless community however we can.

Free food and drinks, showers, and more are still available every week. We are hoping to have a new and improved range of services available soon including housing support and medical help.

Thank you to our partners at ROAR Kent for continuing to support the weekly drop-in. This is an invaluable support service helping those in recovery from addiction.

Also thankyou to the KCC and Thanet District Councillors for dropping in and your offers of support for this valuable service. (We look forward to the video!!).

Also thankyou again to our wonderful partners at Places for People - New Homes who have supported us in applying to the Community Catalyst Programme, which would enable us to offer even more services to our local community.

Exciting times ahead!!!

Reach Out and Recover Kent do vital work to support local people on their journey away from alcoholism and into recovery. It was inspiring to meet Daisy, Tony and their team of local volunteers who have lived experience of addiction to join them for their regular meet up and walk around Folkestone.

What an outstanding group!

It would mean the world to us if you could vote for us here so that we could receive some much needed funding.
We are run mostly on volunteers with very little funding and though many people are benefitting from our vital support, we would love to be able to do more 🙏🙏

Today marks a very special day.
Maria Jago celebrates 14 years in recovery.
Maria has been here from the beginning and is now one of our directors. She is a guiding force over in West Kent, our children and families lead and generally an awesome woman!!!
Very very proud to have her as part of our team. Please show her some love 💕 💕

As we go into the long weekend and the sun is shining, this can be a difficult time for people making changes in their substance use.
What do you guys find useful when difficult thoughts, feelings or situations are activated?

There will be no SMART meeting at Dover on Monday due to the bank holiday and the hub being shut.
Thanks 🙏
