1st Ascot All Saints Scouts

1st Ascot Scouts were busy in the community this weekend, supporting Ascot Round Table with fundraising at the fireworks at Ascot Racecourse. We helped out on the Saturday afternoon in our hi-vis and then again on the Sunday morning clearing any remaining firework debris from the Heath alongside 6th Bracknell Scouts.

It was a great turn out with 20+ volunteers on each day and we appreciate the contributions to the Group in recognition of our support.

Our 1st Ascot Explorers decide on their own activity programme and take turns to lead the sessions themselves. Last week, they did debate and this week, they are learning Poker.

Explorers is for 14-18 year olds and is all about gaining skills, trying something new, challenging yourself, making new friends and, most importantly, having fun.

Another busy week at 1st Ascot (All Saints) Scouts. Our Scout Troop had a great time bowling at Wokingham Superbowl and our Cub Pack got creative making models from recycled materials at the hut.

BBC News breakfast had a feature on volunteering this morning. If it inspired you to give a little time to your local community, look no further.

1st Ascot All Saints Scouts runs entirely on volunteers and we’d love more people to join us. Every week young people are learning new skills and building confidence across our cubs, beavers, scouts and explorer groups and none of it happens without volunteers to make it happen.

You don't need to be outdoorsy, have kids in the group or give up every evening. We need people for all sorts of things:
🔥 Helping at a weekly section meeting
📋 Admin, finance or general support from home
🔧 One-off skills sessions (cooking, first aid, coding, bike repair, whatever you're good at)

A couple of hours a month genuinely makes a difference. If this morning got you thinking, don't let the thought fade by lunchtime.
