🎉 Our team were delighted to support the 5K your Way One Year at Maidenhead Parkrun celebration on Saturday!

It was a great opportunity to hear about people’s experiences of using cancer services and to celebrate the positive impact of this wonderful community initiative.

As always, we received a warm welcome (and enjoyed some delicious cake! 🍰).

Thank you for inviting us to be part of such a special occasion. 💙

Every 5 minutes in the UK someone has a stroke. Stroke is a devastating brain injury, leaving behind life-changing trauma.

Mums, dads, grandparents, young people and even children can be left unable to move, see, speak or even swallow. It’s a life-changing event that robs survivors and their families of the life they knew. Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

This , join us in raising awareness of stroke and help the Stroke Association make sure more people know where to turn for support.

🎉💙 Fantastic news for Healthwatch and, most importantly, for the people and communities whose voices we represent.

We are absolutely delighted that plans to abolish Healthwatch have been dropped and that Healthwatch England and local Healthwatch organisations will not only be retained, but strengthened.

Every day, people across Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead share their experiences of health and social care with us. We listen, identify where issues keep happening and make sure those experiences are heard by the people who plan and provide services.

The announcement recognises the important role Healthwatch can play in identifying recurring problems and helping to highlight where action is needed to improve quality, safety and patient experience.

A big thank you to you, the people of Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead, for trusting us with your experiences.

We’re still here.
We’re still independent.
We’ll keep listening, asking questions, and making sure your voice is heard. 🙌💙

Better GP access means more than faster appointments. It means giving patients greater choice over how, when and where they access care, where clinically appropriate.

Healthwatch England's new blog explores why GP practices should offer a wider range of appointment options that work for patients.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast screening can detect cancer long before you can even feel it. Or more likely, put your mind at rest. When you're invited, save the date, it could save your life.

Being breast aware means knowing what looks and feels normal for you. It's recommended to check your breasts once a month and look out for these signs:
🔎 A lump, or swelling in your breast, chest or armpit
📏 Change in size or shape of one or both breasts
🍊 Dimpling or puckering of the skin (like orange peel)
👩🏽‍⚕️ Ni**le changes – inversion, rash, crusting, or discharge
🔥 Redness, swelling, or heat in the breast

Search online for 'NHS breast cancer" for more info.

Have your say on accessible healthcare information 💬

Are you blind or partially sighted and living in England? RNIB wants to hear about your experiences of accessing healthcare information and communications.

This could include appointment letters, test results, medication information, messages from healthcare services and digital services such as the NHS App. Whether your experiences have been positive, challenging or mixed, your feedback matters.

The survey takes around 10–15 minutes. Your feedback will support RNIB’s work to improve access to healthcare information and communications.

Take part: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DDXKMXF

Please share this post with other blind and partially sighted people living in England.

Closing date: Tuesday 20 October 2026.
