Event: Commitment to Education
IWC of Bobo (D909, IW Burkina Faso)

On 8 October 8, 2026, IWC of Bobo supported education through an initiative aimed at improving learning conditions for students at the Kua B bilingual primary school in Burkina Faso.

This action focused on building a kitchen and donating equipment to the School. With a reported investment of CFA Francs1,250,000, this initiative highlights the importance of improving the School environment and the well-being of students. The provision of the kitchen helps to meet the children's needs better, complemented via tangible support to the School and its educational community.

Through this initiative, IWC of Bobo reaffirms its commitment to serving communities and its desire to contribute to actions that drive change. By supporting schools, the Club helps create a more favorable environment for children's education and growth, reflecting the values of solidarity, service, and responsibility that inspire the Inner Wheel movement.

Event: Assistance for Ladies with Obstetric Fistula
IWC of Koulouba and Bamako Amitié (D909, IW Republic of Mali)

From 30 September to 2 October 2026, Fatou Thiam Diallo, Governor of District 909, visited Bamako as part of her visit to Clubs, which was marked by friendship, community involvement and solidarity.

As part of the, Solidarity Month in Mali, the two Clubs, with the support of the Orange Mali Foundation, made a significant donation of CFA Francs 2,000,000 to benefit 100 women suffering from obstetric fistula. This event took place in the presence of numerous Malian authorities (Ministry of Health and Solidarity, Ministry for the Promotion of Women, Children and Families, and hospital officials).

Obstetric fistula is a disease suffered by women. It usually occurs after childbirth in young women. Inner Wheel Clubs in Mali have been helping these women, to reintegrate into society with care and dignity.

Event: Mazhalai Oli – Special Olympics
Clubs of D323 (IW India)

Mazhalai Oli, the signature project of the Inner Wheel Clubs of D 323, was initiated by PDC Nallammai Ramanathan 25 years ago. This annual District Treasurer’s event is organised in collaboration with the Club Treasurers.

This year, to commemorate its 26th year, Mazhalai Oli was presented in a new format as “Mazhalai Oli – Special Olympics”, a mega sports event for special children, held on 30 September 2026. Nearly 1,000 special children from 30 special schools participated in a day filled with sports, joy and celebration. The sporting events were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Nagarajan, Director, Special Olympics.

The event was graced by Dr. M. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, as the Chief Guest and chaired by DC Supriya Sundararaman, with PDC Nallammai Ramanathan as Convener and District Treasurer Anandhi Sabesan as Co-Convener.

Every participating child was given a medal and a 15-item goodie bag, including t-shirts, caps, breakfast, buttermilk, popcorn, and lunch. Transportation was also arranged for all the children.

The event, with an approximate cost of ₹20 lakhs, was made possible entirely through the generous support of well-wishers and the Clubs of D323.

Mazhalai Oli – Special Olympics was not just a sports event; it was a celebration of ability, inclusion, confidence and the joy of childhood.

Event: A Healthy Heart, A Brighter Future
IWC of Giza (D95, IW Egypt & Jordan)

On 29 September 2026, Mrs. Heba El Adl, President of IWC of Giza, accompanied by Mrs. Gehan Kamel, Vice President, and Mrs. Nagwa El Akkad, Club Secretary, visited Abu El-Reesh Japanese Children’s Hospital to follow up on cardiac procedures.

IWC of Giza sponsored the cardiac catheterization procedure to close an atrial septal defect (ASD) for little Hana Mohamed, aged three and a half, at a cost of EGP 90,350. The procedure, performed by Dr. Amira Esmat, Head of the Critical Care Unit, and her specialised medical team, was successfully completed.

Hana’s recovery brought great joy to her mother, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the club and everyone who contributed to her daughter’s treatment.

Because every child deserves the chance to grow and flourish with a healthy heart.

INTERNATIONAL INNER WHEEL GOVERNING BODY MEETING 2026
United in Friendship, Inspired by Purpose, Growing Towards the Future

From meaningful discussions to moments of heartfelt friendship, the International Inner Wheel (IIW) Governing Body Meeting brought together International President, President Ingelög, VP Sarita, IPP Kay, Treasurer Rashmi, Constitution Chairman Patricia and the 16 Board Directors, as well as the Editor/Media Manager in Altrincham, Manchester, for an inspiring gathering of leadership, collaboration and shared vision from 6 to 9 October 2026.

A special highlight was the formal induction of the 16 Board Directors and Media Manager by President Ingelög, who presented each with their badge and shawl - a proud and memorable moment symbolising their commitment to serve, lead and uphold the values of International Inner Wheel.

Over the course of the meeting, important reports were presented, initiatives reviewed and plans discussed to strengthen IIW and advance international projects. From the United Nations and club extension to International Social Project, media engagement and future Convention planning, every discussion reflected the collective determination to see Inner Wheel continue to thrive.

The group discussions sparked fresh thinking and innovative ideas on strengthening friendship and unity within clubs, modernising the Inner Wheel brand, attracting and retaining younger members, embracing digital transformation, developing future leaders and exploring new approaches to club formation and sustainable growth.

And, of course, no Inner Wheel gathering would be complete without the warmth of friendship! Beautiful photographs captured precious memories, while excellent dinners, cheerful conversations and wonderful camaraderie reminded everyone that the heart of Inner Wheel lies not only in what members do, but in the friendships that are built along the way.

As the Committee Members look ahead, they carry with them renewed enthusiasm, fresh ideas and a shared commitment to making IIW stronger, more inclusive and more relevant for generations to come.

Together, IIW will continue to nurture friendships, embrace new possibilities and work hand in hand to ensure that Inner Wheel continues to GROW and FLOURISH in the Garden of Unity!

Event: IW of Philippines Celebrates International Day of Peace

Members of the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. (IWCPI) D386 gathered at the Montebello Villa Hotel for an unforgettable International Day of Peace celebration, centered around the heme: “Imagine Peace in our Hands.”

The celebration served as a stirring reminder of the shared responsibility to cultivate harmony, both locally and globally. The highlight of the gathering was the keynote message from distinguished guest speaker, Mrs. Fidelis “Fides” Herrera-Lim, former President of the Ambassadors’ Spouses Group in Copenhagen, Denmark (2024). Her powerful perspectives challenged and inspired attendees, driving home the truth that genuine peace is born from individual choices, daily acts of grace, and an unwavering commitment to collaboration.

The celebration unfolded into a series of meaningful activities. The atmosphere filled with emotion during the solemn ringing of the peace bell, followed by the vibrant release of doves soaring into the twilight sky as living symbols of freedom and goodwill. The event culminated around a glowing bonfire, casting a warm, unifying light over all who gathered.

These powerful symbols and shared reflections ignite a lasting commitment to hold peace firmly in our hands and translate it into bold, everyday actions.

Event: Palmyra Seed Plantation Drive

Palmyra Tree - the state tree of Tamilnadu, is called the ‘wish-fulfilling ‘tree. Every part of the Palmyra tree serves a purpose. The tree lives for more than a century, it is drought resistant, requires minimal care and offers a bounty of ecological benefits. It helps in water conservation, increases ground water level and prevents soil erosion.

At a time when Indian agriculture faces soil degradation, water scarcity and unpredictable weather, the Palmyra tree offers a good solution. Yet, the number of Palmyra trees in the state has been dwindling over the years. The Government has now undertaken a Palmyra seed plantation drive with the objective of planting one million seeds by involving District Administration, NGOs,
environmental groups and general public.

IWC of Tanjore led by its President Kalpana Shanmugasundaram identified Kallaperumal lake area for the seed plantation. This lake with a perimeter of about 11 km irrigates about 2,600 acres of farm land. A total of 2,500 volunteers were mobilised by the Club to plant Palmyra seeds around the lake. Most of the volunteers are students and they were given a brief demo of how to plant the seed by Club members and environmental activist Dr. Radhika Michael. Thanjavur District Collector R. Ravathi and other Government administrative officers were invited to launch the drive. The students then planted 100,000 Palmyra seeds in a few hours. With the onset of the North East monsoon, the seeds have a good chance to sprout and survive.

Event: From Run for Vaippar to Revive Vaippar
IWC of Sattur (D321, IW India)

Revive Vaippar, an initiative of IWC of Sattur, is a community-driven effort to restore and protect the Vaippar River under the government scheme, “Sezhumai Karuvolam.” The project focuses on the river stretch passing through Sattur Municipality with the involvement of local authorities, industries, CSR partners, NGOs, educational institutions, volunteers and the public.

The initiative was inspired by IWC of Sattur's Marathon, “Run for Vaippar,” which created awareness about the river’s importance and its deteriorating condition. A documentary on the Vaippar River further highlighted its history, significance and the urgent need for collective action. Thus, “Run for Vaippar” became the seed, and “Revive Vaippar” became the mission.

The project was officially inaugurated by the District Collector of Virudhunagar on 4 July 2026. Since then, restoration activities have been progressing with strong community support. Over the past three months, considerable work has been undertaken to remove invasive thorny bushes and clear the riverbed, helping restore the river’s natural flow.

On September 15, 2026, the team initiated targeted land surveys to prepare zones for dense native tree plantations along the banks, a phase currently underway.

The long-term vision is to transform Vaippar into a clean, flowing, green and sustainable river corridor. The team is also working on drainage and sewage management, riverbank fencing, sanitation facilities, awareness programmes, walking tracks, children’s parks and long-term maintenance of restored stretches.

The efforts aim to create a sustainable ecological legacy for Sattur and future generations.

Event: Growing Compassion: Supporting Patients at the Al-Menshawy Hospital
IWC of Tanta (D95, IW Egypt & Jordan)

Under the annual theme “Grow & Flourish”, IWC of Tanta conducted a community service visit to the Leprosy Department at Al-Menshawy Hospital in Tanta on 29 September 2026.

The delegation, led by Mrs. Heba Hamad, Club President, accompanied by Mrs. Amal Abou Hussein, Secretary, Mrs. Ghada Rahmy, Dr. Maha Abed, Delegate, and Mrs. Noha Abo El Kheir, visited the Department and met with Dr. Marwa Azmi, Head of the Department.

In response to the Department’s needs, the Club donated medication valued at EGP 30,000, in addition to 60 bags containing essential dry food items valued at EGP 14,000, bringing the total value of the project to EGP 44,000.

This initiative reflects the spirit of Inner Wheel through compassionate service and meaningful support for those in need, helping to grow hope and flourish lives within the community.

Event: Growing through Giving
IWC of Mansoura (D95, IW Egypt & Jordan)

On 29 September 2026, Mrs. Ghada Abdullah, President of IWC of Mansoura, accompanied by Club Members, visited Dar Al Amal for Special Needs Children, a long-standing project supported by the Club. The Centre provides children with care and training in self-care, life skills, household activities, computer skills, music, and other developmental skills.

The Members were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Enayat El Sherbiny, Chairman of the Board. Mrs. Ghada Abdullah presented the Centre with the Club’s annual donation of EGP 10,000 in support of its educational activities.

The Members then visited the Centre’s workshop, where they admired and purchased some of the handmade products, helping to encourage the staff and support the Centre’s activities.

The visit was filled with joyful moments and positive energy, reflecting the true spirit of caring, giving, and growing together.
