We are disappointed to see the Department of Work and Pensions announce plans to stop reporting the Parental Conflict Indicator, which was one of nine indicators set out by the previous Government to track progress in tackling disadvantage and child outcomes.

We have objected in writing to the DWP, asking for it to be continued, whilst working with charities, researchers and frontline professionals to improve the reporting on child wellbeing, parental mental health and family stability.

Clear and transparent reporting is essential to track parental conflict and to tailor and monitor support to protect the mental wellbeing of parents and children, a point we also made in our submission.
