Thank you to The Truck Trust at TRUCK FESTIVAL for awarding us a 2026 grant. This money will be used to purchase bird boxes with cameras to support the local wildlife. Once installed, students and the local community will be able to enjoy footage of the nesting birds. Watch this space for updates!

A huge thank you to the team of volunteers from Sophos who joined us yesterday to wield their paint brushes around the school. We especially love the new look of our donor flower wall! (We still have some available to sponsor, do drop us a message for more information.)

Sophos have been kind enough to volunteer with us several times now, and we're grateful to be their Charity of the Year. The support of local businesses is welcomed now more than ever. If your organisation would like to partner with us, please do get in touch!

Today we’re proud to launch our Build The Mill campaign.

Following the successful transformation of the former Premier Inn into the Ock Building, we’re now turning our attention to The Mill, the second building on the Ock Mill site.

The Mill will provide:

• A dedicated SEN hub to support families across Oxfordshire and the UK
• A Careers Centre to prepare young people for employment and adulthood
• A Sixth Form Hub to help build confidence, independence and skills for life
• An auditorium and community space for events and performances

With your support, The Mill will help more young people access the specialist environment they need to thrive. Every donation will help create life-changing opportunities for generations to come.

Head to our bio to donate or find out more about The Mill.

Congratulations to Katy for smashing her personal best time at the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday - despite catching tonsilitis earlier in the week! - and raising an incredible £957.50 including Gift Aid for The Unicorn School in the process. Well done Katy!

Last week, Cedar and Willow classes put their creativity to the test by painting beautiful Greek pots. Best of all, they could take advantage of the last of the autumn sunshine by painting outside!

"I enjoy reading because it helps me feel like I can be myself."

As part of , we spoke to some of our student librarians and keen readers from the Upper School to get their thoughts on how The Unicorn School has helped them to develop a love of reading, and why books are such an important part of school life.

More than half of our students present with dyslexia. While we know that dyslexia is much more than just reading and spelling, we also know that reading is an important hobby for many of our pupils, and one that they can enjoy more fully after support from the school.

Yesterday we hosted 16 students from the The University of Texas at Austin and their professor. They are in the UK on an AIFS (American Institute of Foreign Study) programme touring different schools and educational settings. They had a tour of both of our sites and heard talks on our UK SEND system, our specialist offer, our therapies and mental health support and our use of assistive tech.

It was a joy to welcome them back to The Unicorn School for the 4 year in a row! We can't wait to see you again next year.
