Building a brighter future and improving the quality of life for children and their families in Kenya and north-east Scotland.

Our approach to tackling the challenges which hold back the communities we serve is centred around the 3 pillars of Education, Shelter and Wellbeing. The nature of support under each pillar varies in each country according to need. Whether it's public school fees, specialist equipment, a new house or a ramp to help you access the door you already have, but feel is closed to you - along with food or farming assistance, or therapies - we strive to deliver maximum impact across the entire GEF community. We are a small charity, with little overheads, making a big difference. We pride ourselves on providing a clear and transparent demonstration of the ground level impact that the support entrusted to us enables us to achieve. Happy Birthday to our favorite leader and resident comedian, Myles! 🎂

As the co-founder of GEF, Myles is always going the extra mile for the team, our mission and our community, literally and figuratively. Most likely spotted out running when he's not GEF-ing! 🏃‍♂️🧡

He’s the kind of lad who can outrun most of us (some of us even have to cycle alongside him just to keep up!) while simultaneously delivering a terrible pun without losing his breath. 💨

We wouldn't have you any other way, you are a friend to all and its a privelege to work along side you. Enjoy this one day off 😜

Jake is a happy wee boy from Aberdeen who loves spending time with his family and friends, especially his little brother, Finn!

Jake was born prematurely with a heart defect and spent his first 7 months in hospital. After routine surgery he suffered a stroke, which left him with cerebral palsy.

Jake loves getting outdoors and going for walks, but he can’t manage long distances. When his mum approached GEF, we were delighted to be able to fund a specialist supportive buggy for him. It’s easy to transport in the car, comfortable and supportive for Jake, and perfect for exploring the countryside around Aberdeenshire. There’s even room for Finn to squeeze in too! 🫶

His mum told us:
“The buggy has made a huge difference to our family. It has given us greater freedom and made it so much easier for us to enjoy adventures together outdoors.”

A walk in the fresh air is something many families take for granted. For families like Jake’s, it sometimes takes the right equipment to make it possible. That is what your support allows us to do; help children get out, join in and make memories with the people they love.

For us, it means growth, friendship, shared ideas and being part of something together.

SALUS Technical have been part of GEF's journey for many years. They backed us in the early days of our Safari Series Hazlehead 5K, 6 years ago, when numbers were much smaller, and they've continued to support us ever since.

They don't just sponsor us. They advocate for us, volunteer with us and run with us.

🧡 A huge thank you to everyone involved in a wonderful fundraising lunch in Edinburgh for GEF! 🧡

We would like to say a huge thank you to Elizabeth for her fantastic idea, and to Caroline and Richard for helping to organise such a brilliant charity lunch and raffle at St John’s Church, raising funds for GEF and Twende Pamoja.

A big thank you to Chef Fr Sishu, who was up bright and early preparing the delicious food for more than 50 people. We are also so grateful to all the wonderful volunteers who worked behind the scenes, from setting up and serving to clearing everything away.

And lastly, thank you to everyone who came along, bought raffle tickets, donated and supported the event. We were absolutely delighted to receive these wonderful photos from the day.

It’s fantastic to see people coming together in such a warm and generous way to support our work. Thank you all for helping to make a difference! ❤️

Before joining Pavilion Village children's home, Peter and his twin sister lived with their father, whose poor health made it difficult for him to provide for the family. They often went hungry and were unable to attend school consistently because they lacked school fees and other basic necessities.

They are now both living safely and healthily at Pavilion, but Peter is regularly sent home from school due to a lack of fees. His sister is in school consistently thanks to a monthly sponsor.

Peter loves playing football and wants to become a dentist in the future. By sponsoring Peter's school fees, meals, uniform, books, shoes and stationery for £40 per month, you will enable him to remain in school and give him the chance to complete his primary, secondary and tertiary education, giving him a chance of being a dentist one day. 100% of your support will go towards Peter's education.

Let's face it, it can often be hard to get a night out when we have our everyday responsibilities, busy lives, kids, etc. So, when we do get to let our hair down, we want fun!
