What an unforgettable day! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Kalayaan Festival 2026 with us. Whether you performed, volunteered, supported our vendors, cheered on our contestants, or simply spent the day celebrating with the community, you helped make this year's festival a tremendous success.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this celebration so special. Seeing our community come together to celebrate Filipino culture, friendship, and pride is what makes this event so meaningful.

🎉 Congratulations to the winners of the very first Yellowknife P-POP Star! 🎤✨

What an incredible day celebrating talent, community, and Filipino culture at the Kalayaan Festival! Congratulations to all of our contestants for sharing your passion and amazing performances on stage.

🏆 Grand Champion – Vincent Lumacad – $1,000
🥈 2nd Place – Eureka Embodo – $500
🥉 3rd Place – Dee Jay Hernandez – $250

A huge congratulations as well to all of our finalists, who each received a $100 participation prize. Every performer brought something special to the stage, and you all helped make our first-ever Yellowknife P-POP Star competition a tremendous success! ❤️

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sun Life Canada for generously sponsoring this event. Your support made it possible to celebrate local talent and create an unforgettable experience for our community.

Join Benjamin Mujuni Norman for an exciting Hip-Hop Dance Workshop at this year's Kalayaan Festival!

Originally from Kampala, Uganda, Benjamin has over 14 years of dance experience and is trained in Hip-Hop, Krump, and Breaking. He has performed across Winnipeg and the Northwest Territories, represented B.O.S.S Dance Team, and has spent the past four years teaching youth through community dance programs.

Whether you're a beginner or already love to dance, everyone is welcome to join in and learn some fresh moves!
