Skills Canada NWT is hiring a Youth Engagement and Programs Coordinator!✨

We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic person to support the planning, delivery, and promotion of youth programs and events across the NWT.

This role includes working with students, schools, communities, industry partners, and government representatives to promote skilled trades and technology careers in the north.

You’ll be involved in:
✅ Program coordination
✅ Event planning
✅ Public speaking
✅ Communications
✅ Trades Awareness Initiatives

Skills Canada NWT will be at the Community Showcase in Yellowknife on September 10th! 🛠️

📍: Multiplex Gym - Yellowknife, NT

This event is put on by the City of Yellowknife, this year it will feature 50 organizations! Don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity to connect with the services, programs, and activities that are available throughout our community.

Come visit us and inquire about the opportunities and programs that are available to northern students, educators, apprentices, trades workers, and anyone wishing to get involved in the wonderful world of skilled trades and technology.

Yellowknife Catholic Schools extends its congratulations to all students and coaches who participated in the 2026 Skills Canada National Competition as members of Team NWT.

Competing at the national level is a tremendous accomplishment that reflects months of hard work, dedication, and commitment to developing skills in the trades and technology sectors.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the coaches, educators, and supporters who helped prepare students for this incredible opportunity. Your guidance and encouragement are invaluable to student success.

Students from Yellowknife's Sir John Franklin High School won silver medals in photography and video production at the Skills Canada National Competition.

Planes, buses, and a whole lot of walking. ✈️🚏

We owe a huge thank you to for helping us get Team NWT booked on flights to Toronto. It’s not easy to travel with 42 people, but thankfully we all made it in one piece!

SCNC 2026 transportation looked a little bit different this year. We all used the subways and street cars to get to and from the venue - while this is a huge contrast to our usual modes of transportation, we got the hang of it pretty quickly!

We also did a lot of walking, I’d be curious to see who got the most steps in during SCNC (comment the amount below if you think you got the most!).

Congratulations to our silver medalists from the 2026 Skills Canada National Competition!🥈

Kai Walden and Caelan Waddell won silver in Video Production.

Best of Region award also goes to Kai and Caelan! The highest grade percentage winners from each province and territory win the RBC Best of Region award.
