The 2028 North American Indigenous Games have been conditionally awarded to Norway House Cree Nation and the Southern Chiefs’ Organization, with events to be hosted in Winnipeg and across Manitoba from July 9–23, 2028.

The Games will bring together more than 5,000 Indigenous athletes, coaches, and team officials from across Turtle Island to celebrate sport, culture, and community.

Day 1 is almost in the books at the 2026 NWT Archery Championships.

The last archers are finishing up their final rounds of individual competition here in Fort Providence.

We’ve had a few changes to our team over the summer, and we wanted to take a moment to recognize and thank two valued members of the ISCNWT team as they move on to their next chapters.

Lori Rutherford-Simon is moving on after more than five years with ISCNWT as our Leadership Development Manager. During her time with us, Lori helped grow coaching in the NWT by organizing workshops, courses and professional development opportunities for coaches across the territory.

Christopher MacDonald joined ISCNWT as our Community Development Coordinator in December 2023. Chris worked closely with Dene Games NT, Northern Games NT and Archery NT, supporting their programs and activities across the NWT. We appreciate his work and the relationships he built during his time with ISCNWT.

We wish Lori and Chris all the best in what comes next. Thank you both for everything you contributed to ISCNWT.

We’re also pleased to welcome Kristal Gambler into the Leadership Development Manager role. Kristal joined ISCNWT as our Program Coordinator in March 2025, where she has supported a range of our programs and worked with communities and sport organizations across the territory. We’re excited to see her bring that experience into her new role and continue building opportunities for coaches and leaders across the NWT.
