At the 2026 Arctic Winter Games, Abigail took home 4 Gold Ulus in stick pull, snow snake, finger pull and all-around U18 female.

Archery NT’s 2026 Outdoor Target Learn to Shoot, Learn to Compete Clinic is coming to Yellowknife this June at the YK Ski Club Biathlon Range and the ARCAN Sport Facility.
Open to participants ages 12 and older, including adults. Participants under 12 may attend with parental supervision.
Participants will receive structured coaching in:
• Shooting safety and technique
• Equipment setup
• Tournament procedures and scoring
• Competition preparation
The clinic also includes access to Archery NT equipment, range time, and opportunities to participate in registered tournaments.
Dates:
• June 12–14 & June 19
Registration is limited to 20 participants. Cost is $200 per person plus all participants must have an active Archery NT membership.

ISCNWT has helped many communities and organizations over the years through the Community Development Grant. We want to continue to support sport and recreation initiatives in the NWT through physical activity.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Indigenous Summer Games, happening June 19–21 in Yellowknife at École Sir John Franklin High School.

Early bird registration is $20 until June 5, with registration including swag, accommodations, and competition entry.

This year marks the third ISG, bringing together athletes from across the NWT and beyond to compete in Northern Games, Dene Games, and a new trial event—canoe races. With divisions for both youth and adults, it’s shaping up to be the biggest year yet.

!!! Attention Archers !!!

Mark your calendars August 7th, 8th, and 9th for the Canada Winter Games 2027 Archery Trials! Trials will be held in Yellowknife, NT at the ARCAN Sports Facility (327c Old Airport Road). Deadline to register is July 24th, 2026.

Canada Winter Games

The Canada Games are a high-performance competition that represent the premier level of upcoming Canadian athletes in their respective sports. Prospective athletes should expect strong competition and a meaningful experience representing the Northwest Territories in Quebec.

Trial Registration Recommendations

Archery NT has set a recommended minimum score for Archers looking to register for the trials this year. These scores can be verified through participation in Archery Canada sanctioned tournaments. Those numbers can be found below. If you do not have verifiable scores or suspect you cannot hit the minimum but still want to attend the trials, then please reach out to Archery NT at [email protected] to discuss. Registrants are only able to trial for one division (barebow/compound/recurve) of their choice.

Barebow Female – 340
Barebow Male – 340
Compound Female – 525
Compound Male – 525
Recurve Female – 480
Recurve Male – 480

Athlete Selection

Archery NT will be looking for 4 Male and 4 Female athletes to compete on Team NT. Each division will be assigned 1 male and one female in Barebow, Recurve, and Compound. Archery NT can also select an additional Male & Female pair to one of the listed categories for a total of 8 athletes.
Coaches will be selecting athletes based on the following criteria:

1. Athlete scores
2. Athlete adherence to training regime supplied by selected coaching staff
3. Athlete level of availability between selection camp and CWG
4. Dedicated shooting time intended by the athlete leading to CWG
5. Coachability and commitment to Archery

Travel & Accommodations

All athletes are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. Any athlete under 18 years of age will require a chaperone.

Travel Subsidy

ISCNWT will be providing a travel subsidy for all athletes that do not reside in the location of the Trials. Please keep all gas receipts, airline receipts, and/or hotel receipts and we will provide a subsidy of up to $400.00. Please submit receipts to [email protected]
