🦋 FREE Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Butterfly Pendant Workshop

Interested in exploring traditional mother-of-pearl craftsmanship? Join HKCCSA for a relaxing afternoon of creativity, cultural learning, mutual support, and community connection!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Remember • Reflect • Learn

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impacts on their families and communities.

At HKCCSA, we encourage our community to take time to remember, reflect, and learn, and to deepen our understanding of the histories and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

全國真相與和解日：銘記・反思・學習

9月30日是加拿大「全國真相與和解日」。

今天，我們向寄宿學校制度的倖存者致敬，悼念未能回家的孩子，並反思這段歷史對原住民族家庭及社群所造成、延續至今的深遠影響。

我們鼓勵社區人士藉此機會銘記、反思和學習，進一步認識第一民族（First Nations）、因紐特人（Inuit）及梅蒂人（Métis）的歷史與經歷。

🧠【Dementia Information Seminar | Understand. Support. Prepare Early.】

When we or someone in our family experiences changes in memory or thinking, how can we recognize these changes, respond, and find appropriate support?

The Hong Kong Canadian Community Service Association, in partnership with the Calgary Indo-China Ethnic Chinese Association, is pleased to welcome Fianee Chan, Cultural Communities Navigator with the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.

The seminar will introduce common forms of dementia, risk factors, the 10 warning signs, ways to support brain health, and available community services and resources.

A beautiful blend of tradition and creativity! Our participants explored the beauty of Song brocade and created their own pearl-decorated fans through a hands-on cultural art experience.

It was wonderful to see everyone learning, creating, and connecting while discovering the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the workshop so memorable! ❤️

✨ Event Highlight | Cantonese Cockroach Model-Making Workshop

What a joyful and memorable afternoon at our Cantonese Cockroach Model-Making Workshop!

Participants carefully assembled their own cockroach models step by step, explored the small details of model-making, and added their own creative touches to make every piece unique. The workshop brought together laughter, concentration, conversation, and plenty of proud moments as participants watched their models take shape.

More than a hands-on craft activity, the workshop created a welcoming space for community members to connect, share in a playful cultural experience, and enjoy creating something together in Chinatown.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, as well as our volunteers and partners who helped make this event possible. We loved seeing everyone’s creativity and hope to welcome you again at a future HKCCSA workshop!

We also sincerely thank the City of Calgary City of Calgary for funding this event, and The New Gallery The New Gallery (TNG) for generously providing the venue at no cost. Your support made this meaningful community cultural experience possible.

我們的「廣東曱甴模型製作工作坊」充滿歡笑和難忘時刻！

參加者一步一步組裝自己的曱甴模型，細心探索模型製作的不同小細節，並加入個人創意，創作出獨一無二的作品。大家一邊專心製作，一邊交流分享；當模型逐漸成形時，現場充滿了滿足感、歡笑聲和自豪的笑容。

這不只是一場手作活動，更是一個讓社區成員在唐人街輕鬆相聚、分享有趣文化體驗，以及共同創作的溫暖空間。
