Over the past several years, 199 RCACS has experienced tremendous growth. Thanks to the dedication of our cadets, staff, volunteers, and families, our squadron has become one of the strongest and largest cadet programs in the region.
Because of this success, we are excited to share that beginning in September 2026, 199 RCACS will begin transitioning into two squadrons in order to better serve cadets and families across Winnipeg. We will transfer some cadets to the new Squadron in order to still have a complete functioning squadron with cadets in each training level. This will allow us to run a program, while offering more spots to new cadets joining.
At this time, the planned structure is as follows:
Captain Pelletier will lead approximately 150 cadets at Lord Roberts School on Friday training nights.
Captain Giesbrecht will temporarily lead approximately 100 cadets at the South Osborne Legion on Monday training nights until a more viable location in south Winnipeg is secured.
Over the coming weeks and months, staff will be developing a strategic transition plan to determine which cadets will attend each location. Many factors will be considered, including geography, family convenience, transportation, staffing, training needs, and maintaining strong peer and leadership groups wherever possible.
At this stage, no immediate action is required from families.
We understand that families will naturally have questions regarding schedules, locations, and how cadets will be assigned. As decisions are finalized, communication will be sent regularly to ensure families remain informed throughout the process. Further details will be coming to you via email before June ends.
This transition represents an exciting milestone for our program. It reflects not only the incredible growth of 199 RCACS, but also the strength of our staff and senior cadets to expand opportunities for even more youth in Winnipeg. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we work through this process carefully and thoughtfully. Additional information will be shared in the coming weeks.
Respectfully,
Capt Jenny Giesbrecht, CD
