Beautiful fall weather and two incredible days of learning! ☀️🌱

Our Little Green Thumbs Teacher Training at Richardson Kelburn Farm brought educators together for hands-on activities, from setting up indoor classroom gardens to exploring soil science, insect sampling, food, and creative garden-based learning. The sessions also gave teachers the opportunity to share classroom experiences, exchange ideas, and discover new ways to inspire students in agriculture and food literacy through classroom gardening.

A special thank you to Kelburn Farm for welcoming us into their beautiful facilities, to AITC-Canada for their support, and to our generous sponsors for helping make this event possible!

🌾 Agriculture Scavenger Hunt - Grade 3-8

Agriculture is part of our everyday lives - sometimes in ways we don’t even realize! 👀🌾

The Agriculture Scavenger Hunt challenges students to discover how many everyday items and activities connect back to agriculture helping them realize agriculture isn’t only about food.

This activity helps students find agriculture in the products they use, transportation they take, home they live in, clothes they wear, sports they play, computer they use, and many more relatable topics!

🐄 Design a Dairy Cow Habitat - Grade 3

What does a dairy cow need to be healthy and comfortable? 🐄🌾

With Design a Dairy Cow Habitat, students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work as they design a space that meets a dairy cow’s needs - while exploring the people and careers involved along the way!

Pair it with our Follow the Dairy Farmer video (also on the AITC-M Resource Library) to help your students understand cattle’s habitat needs!
