Motherhood was never meant to be done alone. 🩷

Behind every mother is a story of sleepless nights, silent worries, endless responsibilities, and the pressure to figure it all out.
Sometimes, what a mother needs most is not another piece of advice. It is someone who listens, a hand that helps, and a community that reminds her she is not alone. 🤍

At The Informed Moms Network, we believe in building a community where Black moms feel seen, heard, informed, and supported through every stage of motherhood.

Because when mothers are supported, families thrive. 🌱

Motherhood is truthfully something non mothers will not understand ❤️Respectfully said

It is the mental checklist that never ends, the appointments to remember, the meals to plan, the worries carried in silence, and the constant pressure to make sure everyone is okay even when Mom isn’t.

This is the invisible load of motherhood. The work that often goes unnoticed, the exhaustion that goes unspoken, and the emotional labour that never truly clocks out.

To every mom carrying more than she lets on: You deserve support, rest, and care, too. You don’t have to do it all alone. 🤍

Let’s create spaces where mothers feel seen, heard, and supported not just celebrated for how much they carry, but cared for, too.

💬 Moms, what is one invisible responsibility you wish people understood about motherhood?

A recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that Black people in Canada had a 66% higher risk of severe maternal complications compared with White people.

What makes this even more concerning is that the difference remained even after researchers accounted for sociodemographic and clinical factors.

This is a reminder that maternal health outcomes are not just about individual choices. We also need to look at the broader systems, experiences, and barriers that shape how people receive care.

💬 Every mother deserves to be heard, taken seriously, and treated with dignity and respect throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond.

So, what can we do to advocate for safer, more informed maternity care?

In my next post, I’ll be sharing 5 practical ways to advocate for yourself during pregnancy and childbirth.

Pregnancy is a physiological process, but that doesn’t mean every pregnancy experience is the same.

And while we cannot control every aspect of pregnancy or birth, being informed can change how we navigate the experience.

That’s why, during our 1-Hour Pregnancy Crash Class, we focused on more than just what happens during pregnancy.

We talked about:

🤰 Knowing what is happening in your body
🩺 Understanding your care options
❓ Asking questions when something doesn’t feel right
🗣️ Speaking up and advocating for yourself
💡 Making informed decisions in partnership with your healthcare team

You don’t have to know everything. But you should feel empowered to ask questions, seek information, and participate in decisions about your care.

Your pregnancy is YOUR experience.
Your voice matters.
And you deserve to be an informed participant in your care.

This is the kind of education and support we are building through The Informed Moms Network.

Educate. Empower. Support.
