Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue Inc. Manitoba Mutts is a 100% foster based rescue, founded in 2011. MMDR Inc is a registered charity.

As well as looking for loving homes for our rescue "Mutts", we are also seeking foster homes, who will help with the transition process - from abandoned / neglected / relinquished lifestyles to forever second chance families. For intake please email [email protected]

🚨 PORTIA HAS BEEN IN FOSTER FOR OVER A YEAR 🚨

Frankly, she would like to speak to management.

Her demands:

✅ Snacks
🚫 No dogs
🚫 No cats
🚫 No tiny furry freeloaders
🚫 No children

In return, Portia is housetrained, crate trained, past the puppy nonsense, chill at home, loves walks and is loyal AF.

She’d love a quieter home where every walk doesn’t involve dodging 14 doodles and somebody’s off-leash chihuahua.

Is she for everyone? Absolutely not. Nobody asked her to be.

💛 Parvo Pups Update 💛

Katrina and Lady von Tassel continue to show us just how resilient puppies can be.

After coming into care battling parvovirus, both girls have been eating and drinking well and continue to make progress every day. Katrina, the bigger of the two sisters, is still dealing with some very runny poops, while Lady von Tassel has returned to normal bowel movements. We're hopeful Katrina's tummy troubles clear up soon once we can determine the cause.

While we celebrate the girls' progress, our hearts are still heavy for their brothers. 🌈

Sadly, Ichabod and Baltus did not survive their battle with parvo. It's heartbreaking to think of all the adventures and love they should have had ahead of them. Though their time with us was short, they were cared for, cherished, and loved every step of the way.

We're so proud of Katrina and Lady von Tassel for continuing to fight, and we're cheering them on as they keep moving toward healthier, happier days.

Hi, I’m Marlee!

I’m a playful, fun, sweet girl who loves squeaky toys, especially balls and plushies, as well as people and playtime. I enjoy adventures and having fun, but I also like to cuddle on the couch when it’s time to relax.

I am fully housetrained and fully crate trained. My foster mom lets me sleep in her bed, but puts me in my crate when she’s away, and I’m very comfortable there.

I get along well with other dogs and would love a buddy to play with. I also live with 3 kids who love me!

I LOVE going for walks and exploring the world around me, I am still working on my leash manners but I'm getting better everyday! My foster mom says I am sooo smart and one of best dogs she's ever worked with. I will do practically anything for a treat.

I would do well in a home with someone willing to take me on adventures and teach me lots of tricks. I love being around people and joining in on the fun. Another dog to play with would also be amazing.

I am NOT a good match for a home with a cat. I am a little too young, impulsive and rambunctious for their liking.

I am a happy-go-lucky girl who would love to be your adventure buddy, make you laugh with my playful personality, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day.

Hi! My name is Mayra and I am a sweet and cuddly dog. My favorite things to do are sleep on a lap or sleep on a bed. I also enjoy long walks and free time to play outside. I love sneaking out and going on a jaunt outside but I always come back all smiles!

I am very respectful of the cats here in my foster house and I am gentle with the kids I’ve met, although I do get a bit excited around their fast movement and playing. I haven’t met any dogs in my foster house and I am quite reactive to them when I’m on walks, but I’m working on it. I imagine if I got to know a dog, I’d be fine with them. It would be best if I meet a potential dog sibling prior to adoption.

I have a big voice for a little dog and feel I need to bark at everything that moves. And with me around, you don’t need a doorbell!
You should know that I am absolutely terrified of car rides.

About the house training-I definitely am housetrained but sometimes it’s easier to just go to p*e downstairs instead of ask to go outside. We are working together on this and I’m sure I will understand that my foster mom wants me to go outside all the time!
I am not kennel trained yet but I’m past the puppy stage of chewing so it hasn’t been a problem.

Well, that’s all about me. Now your turn-do you need a cuddly little dog with a big heart and a big voice? If so, I’ll be your bff.

MOSQUITOES SUCK... LITERALLY!

October 1- Heartworm preventative day!

Just when you thought mosquitoes couldn't get any worse, those pesky pests can transmit HEARTWORM, a parasitic disease that can affect any dog regardless of age, s*x or habitat. Dogs are considered the most common host for heartworms, however heartworms may also infect more than thirty animal species (including coyotes, foxes, wolves, domestic dogs, cats, ferrets, etc.) and even humans. Treatment for heartworm can be hard on your pet and your pocketbook.

Heartworm preventives are 99% effective, protect your pet!

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, we pause to remember the children who never came home, honour Survivors of residential schools, and recognize the lasting impact on Indigenous families and communities.

At Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue Inc, we are fortunate to work alongside many Indigenous communities. We have been welcomed into the communities, trusted with animals who need our help, and given the opportunity to build relationships that mean so much to us. For that, we are truly grateful.

Our work is about more than rescuing animals. It is about people, community, trust, and coming together to care for those who need us, and we know that meaningful relationships begin with listening, respect and understanding.

Today, we listen. We learn. We remember. And we reflect on how we can continue to move forward with respect and compassion.

We encourage our supporters to take some time today to learn from Indigenous voices, learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, and consider what reconciliation can look like in our own lives and communities.
