Run as Yourself!

Can’t make it to a race you registered for? Before handing your bib to someone else, check whether the event offers an authorized bib transfer.

Unauthorized bib trading can cause bigger problems than you might think. It can mean:

• Incorrect emergency contact information
• Missed waivers and important race updates
• Results being recorded under the wrong runner
• Age or gender category results being affected
• Other athletes missing out on recognition they earned

If plans change, use the event’s official bib transfer process whenever one is available.

It helps keep race day safer, results accurate and competition fair for everyone.

A look back at last year’s MRA Awards Celebration!

Each year, we come together to recognize the runners, volunteers and members of our community who made the season one to remember. We’re looking forward to doing it all again this November!

This year’s celebration takes place Sunday, November 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Sorrento’s at the Centro Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave. in Winnipeg.

The afternoon will include the Classic, Youth, Celebration and Indigenous Series awards, along with the presentation of the MRA National Excellence Award. There will also be a 50/50 and silent auction.

After many years of dedicated leadership and service, MRA Executive Director Kathy Wiens has announced her retirement. As we celebrate Kathy’s incredible contributions to Manitoba’s running community, we’re beginning the search for the next Executive Director of the Manitoba Runners’ Association.

We’re looking for a leader who is ready to help shape the future of running and active living in Manitoba while working alongside our community of runners, race directors, volunteers, clubs and sport partners.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in the non-profit or voluntary sector, an understanding of Manitoba’s sport and recreation landscape, and strong leadership, financial management and project management skills.

Taking your running to the national stage in 2027?

Applications are now open for the MRA National Excellence Award, created to support Manitoba road runners who are excelling in the sport and working toward competition at the national level.

Thanks to a generous donation from Rob Guy, two athletes will each receive $1,250 to help support their 2027 season!

Eligible athletes must be current MRA members, primarily live and train in Manitoba, and intend to compete in a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Full Marathon National Championship in 2027.

Applications are due November 10.
