We have been fighting this for so long, City of Windsor - Municipal Government council voted unanimously to advocate for change. Today we received the news that change is coming. Thank you

Approved Changes

Mandatory Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT): Physicians must prescribe safer supply medications only in conjunction with OAT, such as Suboxone or methadone, used to treat opioid addiction.

On-Site Consumption: Patients will now be required to consume safer supply medications directly in front of health-care professionals rather than taking take-home pills (eliminating "carries")

Monthly Assessments: Physicians must conduct a comprehensive in-person clinical assessment at least monthly for patients receiving these prescriptions. [1]

One of the hardest parts of recovery is learning that while you’re ready to make amends, the people you hurt may not be ready to receive them and accepting their choice is part of the work.
I gave myself space to cry, sit with it, and then put my heart into writing. Having a healthy outlet in moments like this reminds me how far I’ve come. Keep holding onto your peace, even when it hurts. 🙏✨
