Making music isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card! 🎻💳

Introducing the Robert Franz Play It Forward Instrument Library!

The Rotary Club of Canada South, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Public Library, and the City of Windsor - Municipal Government have teamed up to launch an initiative that will give unused musical instruments a second life and make them available free of charge to Windsor-Essex residents through the Windsor Public Library system.

Named in honour of the late Maestro Robert Franz (1968–2025), whose passion for music enriched countless lives throughout Windsor-Essex, the program aims to remove financial barriers to music education while encouraging creativity, learning, and participation in the arts.

“Robert Franz believed deeply in the power of music to bring people together, inspire creativity, and strengthen communities,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “It is another fitting tribute to Robert's legacy and one that will continue to benefit our community for years to come.”

Together, we're helping make music more accessible and creating opportunities for our community to experience the joy of making music.

To learn more about the program, how to donate used instruments, and how to borrow them from the library, visit www.windsorsymphony.com/robert-franz-play-it-forward-instrument-library.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our third annual Classical in the Concrete! We love bringing the orchestra to the Pelissier parking garage, and this time with a twist – turning a minivan into an instrument for the evening!

A special thank you to Downtown Windsor, Renaldo Agostino, and composer Mari Alice Conrad, who joined us to hear her piece Lady Driven performed live with the minivan!

And thank you to Stellantis for providing the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica that made it all possible!
