🏒 Free tickets: Canada vs. USA Women’s Hockey!

As a thank-you to our volunteers, friends and guests, Julien’s House has been provided FREE tickets to share for a night of hockey courtesy of Hockey Canada and the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club.

Today, we share how one person can open a door and a local business can help make a difference. 💙

After finding helpful grief support as a guest at Julien’s House, Sandra Wong wanted to give back. She brought our name forward to her employer, WFS Ltd.. and in June, they selected Julien’s House as the beneficiary of their employee and vendor golf tournament.

Their generosity and continued support help keep no-cost peer grief support and restorative activities available for adults in Windsor–Essex.

Julien’s House is community founded and community funded. We currently receive no government funding, making local support essential to sustaining this care.

☀️🍂 Sunshine, changing leaves, new friendships—and the beginnings of something beautiful!

On Saturday, October 17, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Windsor St. Clair and Julien’s House came together to begin preparing our backyard pollinator garden. It was a wonderful fall day filled with helping hands, shared laughter and community spirit.

This generous gift from the Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair will bring more than beauty to our outdoor space. As we build on this work in the spring, the garden will offer our guests opportunities to learn about native plants and propagation, enjoy restorative activities, and find connection in nature. 🌱🦋

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who gave their time, energy and care to get things growing. You helped create something special—and we made some lovely new friends along the way!

Your support helps keep grief support free in Windsor–Essex.

Today, we introduce Wayne’s story—a place to be understood. When Wayne suddenly lost his wife, MaryAnn, he felt lost in his grief. His therapist recommended Julien’s House, but walking into his first support group took courage.

“I was very nervous when I first came,” he remembers. “But by the time I left that first support group meeting, I knew it was a place for me.”

Through peer support, Comfort Cups and Flow With Grief, Wayne found warmth, understanding and belonging.

Today, he gives back as a Comfort Cups facilitator and volunteer, helping create that same welcoming space for others.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more stories from our guests, volunteers and supporters—showing what Julien’s House means to the people in our community.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

A little time, a little teamwork—and something wonderful can begin!

Join us at Julien’s House this Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to noon as we work with the Rotary Club Windsor St.Clair to begin creating our pollinator gardens! 🦋

We’re looking for volunteers who can lend a hand for a couple of hours. We’d love to see you!
📍 Nick Dyer Clubhouse, by the gazebo
🧤 Bring gardening gloves if you have them.
🌿 A shovel is welcome, too—but come along even if you don’t have one!

We’ll have tea, coffee and hot chocolate to keep everyone warm, and plenty of community spirit to share. ☕

Grief is personal. Support can come from community. 💙

After losing his son Daniel, Roch Ethier came to understand how much grief can remain hidden behind a brave face.
Today, as a Julien’s House board member and fundraising chair, he is helping keep meaningful support available to others.

Through free peer grief support and restorative activities, Julien’s House offers adults in Windsor–Essex opportunities to connect with people who understand.

This Thanksgiving, we’re holding space for all that the day may bring.

For some, Thanksgiving is a time of laughter, connection and shared traditions. For others, it can bring an empty chair, difficult memories or a reminder of someone who is deeply missed.

Wherever you are in your grief journey, we hope you’ll be gentle with yourself today. There is no right way to spend a holiday while grieving.
