VON Durham A not-for-profit organization serving individuals & their families facing advanced illness and grief.

VON Durham Hospice Services is a nonprofit, community-based, charitable organization that provides non-medical emotional, social, and spiritual support to individuals, their families and caregivers who are facing advanced illness and death, as well as bereavement services to those struggling with the loss of a loved one. Our services are provided throughout Durham Region in homes, long‐term care centres, retirement homes & communities, hospital rooms and shelters.

On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we recognize and thank the incredible care teams whose compassion, dedication and expertise provide comfort and dignity to those in the final stages of life. Your care truly makes a difference.

Many of our programs and services support clients and their families through their palliative care journeys, whether at home or in the community. This includes care in the home, in a hospice residence, or through palliative care education for providers. We also support clients and their families with our Volunteer Visitor program with the help of specially trained, dedicated volunteers.

Today, we proudly recognize Joyce Marshall for receiving the VON Canada Lifetime Associate Award. This award recognizes a volunteer whose long standing service has had a significant sustained impact on VON Canada and the communities we serve!

Joyce has devoted many years of service to advancing hospice and palliative care throughout Durham Region. Through her volunteer leadership, advocacy, fundraising efforts, and passion for supporting others, she has helped build a stronger, more compassionate community.
