Celebrating Ramadhani, who has just completed his degree in Industrial Engineering at Mzumbe University! 🎓💚

He has made so much of his university years, gaining practical experience through field opportunities across Tanzania, playing for the university football team and flourishing as a student body leader. So much to be proud of, both in and beyond the classroom.

Ramadhani is now interning with us at The Olive Branch for Children and will continue his learning with a quality assurance certification.

Ramadhani, we are extremely proud of you. Watching you learn, lead and find your way has been a joy. Congratulations on everything you have worked so hard to achieve! 💚

Our Community Care programs, Food Support and Team Hope, are among the hardest to fund. Yet the needs they meet do not simply go away.

They support older adults, people living with long-term health conditions and disabilities, and families going through crisis. Some older adults have been abandoned or have no surviving family. Others are raising grandchildren without the ability to earn an income.

“Sustainability” comes up often in conversations about funding. It matters. But there must also be room for programs rooted in humanity and relief, where the purpose is to ensure someone has enough to eat, receives care and knows they have not been forgotten.

For some people, support helps them through a difficult period. For others, it may be needed throughout their lives. That does not make the work any less valuable.

These photos show Adam Mwakapesa, one of our Community Healthcare Workers visiting two members of our Food Support and Team Hope programs. Knowing people, understanding their circumstances and maintaining these relationships are central to our work.

Care has value for as long as it is needed. 💚

From a little girl of two to an Agricultural Engineering graduate—we are so proud of you, Shaila! 🎓💚

Shaila has graduated from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) as the top female student and one of the top five students in Agricultural Engineering—an extraordinary achievement earned through years of hard work, determination and a love of learning.

An Olive Branch student since she was just two years old, Shaila has grown up with us. We have watched her curiosity deepen, her ambitions grow and her determination carry her through challenges. Seeing her reach this milestone is deeply personal for our Olive Branch family.

Her next chapter takes her to Maua Mazuri for an internship, where she will put her knowledge into practice and continue learning.

Shaila, we celebrate the brilliant graduate you have become and the little girl whose questions never stopped. You have worked so hard for this moment. What a joy it is to celebrate it with you! 🌱

Our Social Care Manager, Lucy, and Healthcare Manager, Rama, are distributing 250 packets of reusable maxi pads, alongside menstrual health lessons using the new educational materials our team has produced. 💚

Among these is our Swahili storybook, Hedhi Yangu ya Kwanza (My First Period), which introduces menstruation through an illustrated story, with information about pads and personal hygiene. We created these resources to make our lessons more interesting and accessible, giving students a familiar language and engaging pictures to help them learn, ask questions and talk more comfortably about periods.

It is wonderful to see students gathered around the books, reading and learning together. Including boys in these conversations also helps build understanding and challenge the embarrassment and teasing that can make menstruation harder for girls to navigate.

Through our Menstrual Equity Program, we want girls to have both the products they need and the knowledge to use them confidently, with support from the people around them. Thank you, Lucy and Rama, for bringing this work into our communities! 📚

It was so great to pop into Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro and spend time with our Olive Branch students, Shaila, who is studying Agricultural Engineering, and Tuma, who is studying Veterinary Science. We were also delighted to meet Cecilia, a fellow student in agricultural sciences.

SUA is a public university known for its programmes in agriculture, veterinary science, forestry, animal science, food science, environmental science and natural resources. Set against the beautiful Uluguru Mountains, the campus brings learning to life through its expansive fields, thriving crops and even horses.

It was wonderful to see the environment in which Shaila and Tuma are learning, growing and preparing for their futures. We are incredibly proud of them and so happy that they have this opportunity to build knowledge and practical skills that can one day strengthen their communities.

Water is life. 💧

Thanks to the generous support of Bees, Trees and Water, The Olive Branch for Children has completed a new well at Uyole Primary School, bringing a reliable source of water to:

643 girls
601 boys
24 teachers
4 support staff

In total, the well directly serves 1,244 students and 28 staff members, while approximately 2,488 additional people connected to the wider school community will benefit indirectly.

This well represents healthier students, improved hygiene, more time in the classroom and a stronger school community. We are deeply grateful to Bees, Trees and Water for investing in a project whose impact will be felt every day for years to come. 🌱💙

Our Social Care Manager, Lucy, has begun distributing our newly published book series through our KICKIT Mobile Libraries! 📚

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Steven Del Duca, the City of Vaughan, and the Spirit of Generosity for their incredible support of our KICKIT Mobile Library Program. Your partnership is helping bring books, learning, and opportunity to children who need it most.

The Pili and Juma series teaches practical health and wellbeing, including malaria prevention, nutrition, safe water and menstrual equity.

The Shaila and Raheem series explores education, perseverance, friendship across different faiths, community leadership and service.

The Kenneth and Serianne series uses warm, funny family stories to teach respect, kindness, healthy boundaries and resolving conflict.

Students were also introduced to our new KICKIT song, encouraging them to read and write every day, ask questions, work through unfamiliar words and use knowledge to build their futures. 🎶💚

We are delivering 250 birth kits in total to Madundas, Luhanga, Simike and Mpolo dispensaries. 🤱🏿💛

Today, we delivered 100 kits to Madundas and 50 to Luhanga. Tomorrow, another 50 will go to Simike and 50 to Mpolo.

We provide birth kits to every woman delivering at these four dispensaries, helping support safer and more dignified births.

Thank you to our Social Care Manager, Lucy, for continuing to uplift women and help ensure mothers have the essential supplies they need during delivery.
