According to Manitoba's Provincial Parks act:
"“The purposes of a provincial park system include the following:
(a) to conserve ecosystems and maintain biodiversity;
(b) to preserve unique and representative natural, cultural and heritage resources;
(c) to provide outdoor recreational and educational opportunities and experiences in a natural setting.”

Note: Nothing about mining, industrial destruction or military machine guns.

READ: Xat’sull First Nation files petition for emergency order to protect caribou.

“Xatśūll will not stand idly by while selcwéycen and their habitat continue to face serious threats to their survival and long-term recovery,” said Kúkwpi7 (Chief) Rhonda Phillips.

“We are calling on the Governments of Canada and British Columbia to take immediate action to protect critical habitat while working with First Nations and the forest sector to implement sustainable, long-term forestry solutions. Xatśūll has demonstrated that conservation and responsible forestry can coexist when stewardship is placed at the centre of decision-making.”

Thank you to the Xat'sull First Nation for stewarding southern mountain caribou (selcwéycen) since time immemorial. We are urging the federal government to take action on this petition immediately.

Over 50 people (scientists, artists, ENGOs, birders and Pacheedaht Elder Bill Jones) gathered to celebrate Marbled Murrelets. Murre-licks, old-growth forest walks and a whole lot of birding.

Marbled Murrelets are an at-risk seabird that need old-growth forest to nest, and that forest is disappearing. Days like this help us track them, watch over their habitat and make sure they aren't forgotten.

Thank you to Friends of Carmanah/Walbran and everyone who made it happen. 🐦🌲

Metro Vancouver is updating its Solid Waste Management Plan (the document that sets waste policy for the region for the next decade).

Zero Waste BC has been pushing for one core priority: reduce waste at the source, not just manage it better after the fact. That's the piece that could get lost in this update if people don't weigh in.

PRESS RELEASE: Today’s announcement referring the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 (RBT2) expansion project to the Major Projects Office (MPO) reinforces our fears that Prime Minister Carney’s Building Canada Act and the recent discussion paper “Getting Major Projects Built in Canada” were always a gateway for species extinction.

“The Wilderness Committee is concerned that this decision is fuelled by the knowledge from both the Port of Vancouver and the federal government that RBT2 cannot meet the requirements under the Species at Risk Act,” points out Conservation and Policy Campaigner Lucero Gonzalez.
