Driving can be frustrating, especially when you're running late. But trying to shave a few seconds on your commute, only to be stopped at the next red light doesn't help. Annoyance and frustration doesn't feel great; and impatience and carelessness can result in accidents. It's just not worth it. Slow down and take care, especially in dark, wet conditions.

A warning to men who use Grindr to meet other men of a recent series of connected assaults in North Vancouver related to the app.

If you hook up, it is always good practice to let someone you trust know. Share the location and any other identifying information, and send a screenshot of the profile. Set a time afterwards that they know to hear from you. Above all, trust your guy. If it feels questionable, take a pass.

Our volunteers were out yesterday distributing posters for our *Scam Prevention for Seniors* workshop on Oct. 29; as well as their usual patrol responsibilities - checking for stolen vehicles, picking up needles and paraphernalia, making 311 reports, performing wellness checks, and engaging with neighbours on safety issues in our neighbourhood to share with our Neighbourhood Police Team.

Riding bikes or scooters on sidewalks is illegal and results in pedestrian injuries. Seniors and those less able to move out of the way, or see a bike or scooter, are at especially high risk.

Our volunteers, joined by VPD, will be on Denman Street this Thursday, redirecting riders to the road surface, and reminding of them of other relevant laws, such as wearing a helmet and avoiding distracted riding.

In collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department , we're hosting "Scam Prevention for Seniors" on Thursday, Oct. 29, 12:30-2 pm, at West End Community Centre, 870 Denman St.

Using real-life examples and case studies, officers cover topics such as grandchild bail scams, distraction thefts, and cybercrime. You'll learn tips to protect your information and assets, spot red flags, and gain strategies to safeguard yourself..
