This October, RFF Founder & Strategic Advisor Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes is hitting the streets for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon — and he’s running with a goal in mind: raising $15,000 to support Rainbow Faith and Freedom’s work in Canada and around the world. 🌈

RFF works to challenge religious-based LGBTI homophobia and transphobia and to build a world where LGBTQ+ people can live with dignity, safety, freedom and belonging.

Today, on National Seniors Day, we celebrate the wisdom, experiences, contributions, and stories of older adults in our communities. 💜

For 2SLGBTQI+ seniors, growing older should also mean growing older with dignity, safety, respect, and the freedom to be fully themselves.

Rainbow Faith and Freedom is working to better understand the experiences of 2SLGBTQI+ seniors in long-term care and to help build more inclusive, affirming care environments—where no one has to hide who they are, leave their chosen family behind, or fear discrimination as they age.

Everyone deserves to age with dignity, belonging, and pride.

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples.

Truth must come before reconciliation. And reconciliation requires listening, learning, accountability, and action.

🌈 Many 2SLGBTQ+ seniors face subtle but serious barriers in senior care—from a lack of representation to staff untrained in their unique health needs.

A lifetime of discrimination can show up in the body as isolation, anxiety, and delayed care. But most senior care teams aren't equipped to recognize or respond to these challenges.

At Rainbow Faith and Freedom, we're working to change that—by helping senior care workers build the skills and knowledge they need to create safer, more inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ elders. 💜

On this International Day of Peace, we recommit to building communities where everyone can live openly, love freely, and be treated with compassion and respect.

As Yom Kippur begins at sundown, Rainbow Faith and Freedom extends warm wishes to all who are observing this sacred day.

Known as the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur is a time for reflection, repentance, reconciliation, and renewal. It is an opportunity to pause, consider the year that has passed, seek forgiveness, and look toward the year ahead with intention and hope.

May this Yom Kippur be a meaningful time of reflection, peace, and renewal for all who observe. G’mar Chatimah Tovah. 🕊️
