A big thank you to Generation Capital for helping make our Horizons For Youth Fun Day possible! With your generous support, our youth enjoyed a day filled with a BBQ, delicious gourmet cookies, an ice cream truck, and, most importantly, plenty of fun and laughter.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support of our mission and your commitment to helping our youth thrive. At Horizons For Youth, we believe that supporting young people means more than meeting their basic needs, it’s also about creating opportunities to build confidence, community, and joyful memories. Thank you, Generation Capital, for helping our youth simply have fun and enjoy being kids!

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities who continue to carry the impacts of these institutions across generations. For Indigenous youth, the legacy of residential schools and colonial policies continues to shape experiences of identity, belonging, family, and access to safe and supportive spaces.

At Horizons for Youth, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, valued, connected, and supported. Today, we recognize the importance of listening, learning, and taking meaningful action toward reconciliation. Every child matters. Every young person deserves to belong.

A huge thank you to for spending time with us at Horizons for Youth this week and absolutely transforming our backyard space! From giving our BBQ a much-needed clean, to raking up the yard and adding a fresh coat of paint to our picnic tables, your team went above and beyond to help make our outdoor space look beautiful. These thoughtful improvements make such a difference for the young people who call our shelter home, creating a welcoming space where they can relax, connect, and enjoy some time outdoors. Thank you for helping us make our backyard a place our youth can enjoy and feel proud of!

WHAT AN ADVENTURE! A HUGE shoutout and THANK YOU to the Bell Let’s Talk Community Mental Health Fund for helping make an incredible experience possible for our youth! Earlier this month, 12 of our youth packed their bags and headed to beautiful Muskoka for an unforgettable 3-night stay at Camp Olympia! And WOW… did they ever make the most of it!
🧗‍♀️ Conquering the rock wall
🪢 Soaring on the zip line
🚣‍♂️ Facing fears in the canoe
💪 Building confidence
💚 Connecting with one another
🧠 Taking part in meaningful mental health & wellness activities
Our Mental Health & Wellness Worker was also able to join the trip, giving our youth the opportunity to participate in group activities focused on mental wellness, connection, confidence, and self-care. There were definitely some nerves, lots of laughs, BIG accomplishments, and plenty of “I DID IT!” moments! We are SO proud of our youth for stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting each other, trying new things, and showing just how brave and capable they are! Thank you, Bell Let’s Talk, for investing in our youth and helping us create opportunities where mental health, connection, confidence, and adventure can all come together. Here’s to more adventures, more memories, and more moments of “I can do this!”
