🏆 2ND PLACE! 🏆

Huge, roaring congratulations to our incredible Sistema Toronto - Parkdale students! 🎉 We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our young musicians have taken home 2nd place in the CBC Music Class Challenge!

This national recognition is a well-deserved testament to their hard work, tireless rehearsals, exceptional teamwork, and beautiful voices.

A giant thank you to our dedicated teaching artists, supportive families, and the entire Sistema Toronto - Parkdale community for cheering them on. A special thank you to Mr. Sebastian and Ms. Ramona for their efforts to make this project happen.

"This submission was an absolute joy to watch. The little musicians were focused and seemed to be committed to their performance. The percussion section was a wonderful surprise (especially the energetic egg shaker!). The Cree text was pronounced well. It's clear their teacher(s) run a great program and all the students were engaged. Bravo to all!"

🏕 Help Sistema Toronto send nearly 50 students on an unforgettable adventure at summer music camp! 🎶

Our campers are already counting down the days until their adventure begins! This passionate group of young musicians are thrilled to be attending summer camp this year where they'll have the chance to:

🎵 Continue their music education throughout the summer
🏕️ Spend time playing, creating, and learning in the great outdoors
💡 Develop confidence, independence, and valuable life skills
✨ Make lifelong memories with friends!

This , we're sending a harmonious THANK YOU to the Nathaniel Dett Chorale for their work with our students, as well as to the Toronto Arts Council, SOCAN Foundation, and Desjardins Foundation for generously supporting this project.

This Friday, students from Sistema Toronto - Scarborough will sing two songs alongside the Nathaniel Dett Chorale at the NDC's season closing concert: Seeds by Julian Taylor, and Try, which students wrote alongside award-winning composer Aaron Manswell. ⁠The Nathaniel Dett Chorale and their Artistic Director, Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, have worked with our students throughout the term to prepare for this show, helping them refine their sound and prepare to confidently sing these powerful songs.

A Sistema Toronto Teaching Artist will guide young people ages 2-6 through music and movement exercises that will have them singing, dancing, and having fun. This workshop is not to be missed 🎶⁠

Out students had a great time rehearsing with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale last week!

In preparation for their collaborative performance on May 29th, vocalists from the NDC along with Artistic Director Brainerd Blyden-Taylor visited Sistema Toronto - Scarborough for a rehearsal. Together, they polished two songs that they will sing alongside the NDC at the NDC's season closing concert: Seeds by Julian Taylor, and Try, which students wrote alongside award-winning composer Aaron Manswell.

Their voices are ready, their energy is high, and their excitement to sing with the NDC is palpable. Don't miss this exciting performance! ✨

Sistema students learned elements of composition as well as professional performance standards through a project that took place over the whole term."
