⚠️ Taking Rybelsus? Be aware of a recent change.

A new type of Rybelsus (semaglutide) is now available in Canada. While it provides the same effect, the tablet strengths, shape, and size have changed. During the transition period, both old and new formulations may be available, increasing the risk of dose mix-ups.

✅ Rybelsus should always be taken as ONE tablet once daily.
❌ Do not combine tablets to make up a dose.

If your Rybelsus tablet looks different than before, or if you have questions about your dose, speak with your pharmacist or healthcare provider. Keeping an up-to-date medication list can also help prevent medication errors.

⚠️ Sanofi-Aventis Canada Inc. is recalling some insulin pens and cartridges that may have frozen when they were shipped. Insulin products that have been frozen may not work as well.

Report any health product-related side effects or complaints to Health Canada.

ISMP Canada received a report where a consumer received the wrong strength tablet in their vial. This resulted in them taking four times their prescribed dose.

Tablets and capsules may look different depending on their strength. Check the colour, shape, and markings to help make sure you are taking the right medication and strength.

Medication safety is critical to people with long-term conditions such as diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and others. People with these conditions rely on medications to manage their health and quality of life. We all have a part to play in "Safe care for life!"
