This weekend, Reconnect’s Brampton Stewards and People Against Littering are hosting a litter cleanup at Komagata Maru Park, and we’d love to see you there!

🌳 We’ll spend time together cleaning up the park and surrounding area, connecting with fellow community members and taking care of a space we all share.

💡 Following the cleanup, we’ll head over to the Brampton Springdale Library for a short community brainstorming session focused on prevention and long-term solutions.

We want to hear from you! Bring your experiences, concerns and ideas for how we can create lasting change.

In this video, Jenna from our Reconnect Mississauga team breaks down exactly how the process works — from contacting your local councillor and signing up to speak to preparing your points and following up.

Whether you care about public transit, protecting greenspace, housing or something else entirely, deputations are one of the most powerful — and underused — tools for making your voice heard.

Right now, you might be enjoying fresh cherries from your local farmers market or picking up just-harvested potatoes for tonight's dinner. 🍒🥔

That food exists because of Ontario's farmland — and that farmland is disappearing fast.

A report from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture found that Ontario loses 319 acres of farmland every single day.

🚨 319 acres. Every. Single. Day. 🚨

Good soil takes decades — sometimes centuries — to develop. Once it's paved over, it's gone for good.

Unfortunately, rather than taking meaningful action, the Ontario government has made it even easier for speculators who buy up farmland to get their land rezoned for development.

We clearly need more housing in this province, but we have to stop building on existing farmland.

You can help stop this. Here's what you can do RIGHT NOW:

Located on the east side of Hamilton Harbour, Windermere Basin is a hidden gem worth adding to your list. Maybe you’ve wandered through Cootes Paradise or soaked up the views at Bayfront Park — but have you been here yet? Now’s your chance! ✨

This area is a vital habitat for local birds and fish, and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we invest in rehabilitation and restoration of our ecosystems. 💚

📣 Calling all Hamiltonians! Do you have a “soot story”? If so, we want to hear it!

Maybe you've wiped black soot off your windowsills, found it on your kids' hands or your pet's paws, noticed it on laundry left out to dry — or tasted it in the air on a morning walk.

📍 This Sunday, June 7, from 10–4, we'll be at Open Streets Hamilton at the Bernie Morelli Hub — collecting stories from Hamiltonians about their experiences with black soot in the city and pinning them to a community map.

Stop by, share your experience in 1–2 sentences, and see how your story connects to your neighbours'.

Together, we're building a real picture of how Hamilton's air quality is affecting people's homes, health and daily lives — and using those stories to push for change.
