It was a beautiful morning with plenty of sunshine ☀️, heaps of amazing dogs 🐶, an abundance of love 💗, and just a touch of chaos! 😜 When it was all said and done, 🎉🌟118🌟🎉 dogs (give or take 😜) were showered with love and taken out for fun walks to the park! Of course, this would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers, including a group of young animal lovers from St. Andrew’s International School. On behalf of every dog who was made to feel special today - THANK YOU! 🐶🐾💓🇧🇸

🐾 FELINE FRIDAY 🐾

From tiny, fragile fluffballs to healthy, happy, playful kittens growing stronger every day 😻

None of this would be possible without the incredible Bahamas Feline Foster (BFF) group 💙 Every year, this dedicated team takes in kittens who need round-the-clock care, including bottle feeding, medication, cuddles, and endless patience, and gives them the strong start they deserve.

A HUGE thank you to Natalie, Metta, Kim and Laarnie for your hard work and dedication in running this program. You are truly the kittens’ BFFs! 🧡

💙 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💙

Heartworm fast kill update! 🐾

Today, our second batch of 14 dogs started their treatment! They join the 13 who began the week before last, which means 27 loving, deserving dogs are now on their way to being heartworm free! 🎉❤️

Fast kill is so important for these dogs. It gets them healthy sooner and one step closer to new beginnings, and it’s only possible through special donations like yours. 🙌

To everyone who donated to this campaign, THANK YOU. You made this happen for every single one of these beautiful dogs.

And we’re not stopping there… Batch 3 will be under way in the next week or two! 💪

A new chapter for BHS ❤️ 🐾

Last night at our AGM, the Bahamas Humane Society elected a new President, and we want to take a moment to honour two incredible women stepping back.

Kim Ar**ha has served as President for 18 years, and on our board for 27. Her journey with BHS began as a volunteer back in 1980 🧡 Alongside her, Charlotte Albury has served as Vice President for 16 years. Together, they were a true power team 💪

Under their leadership, the shelter has grown exponentially, especially over the last 10 years, and today we help more animals than ever before. So many lives have been changed because of their dedication. Thank you, Kim and Charlotte, for everything you’ve given to the animals of The Bahamas 🙏

Please join us in welcoming Lissa McCombe Pinder as our new President! 🎉 With a new leadership team at both board level and within the organization, we have exciting times ahead, and we can’t wait to share what’s next.

Want to be part of it? Visit the shelter, share your ideas, or help us fundraise. There’s a role for everyone 🐶🐱

🐾 Meet Cluedo – our sweetest boy needs your help 🐾

Cluedo just turned one, and he’s been with us for a couple of months now. In that short time he’s stolen every heart at the shelter with his happy, gentle nature 💙

He came to us with an old injury, most likely from being hit by a car. Over time, the joints in his elbow fused in a dislocated position. We sent him for surgery in the hope of unfusing the joint and putting it back where it belongs, but once inside, the vet found there was simply too much damage to repair.

The good news? Dogs are incredibly resilient, and this beautiful boy is going to thrive as a tripod. Three legs, one big heart, and a whole life ahead of him 🧡

We’re hoping to raise $1,500 to cover his initial surgery, his amputation, and his recovery. Every dollar gets Cluedo closer to a pain-free, zoomie-filled future, and helps us keep saying yes to more dogs like him who need us 🧡
