Kino Toronto We are Toronto’s chapter of the international KINO network of independent filmmakers. Kino Toronto FAQ

How can I become a part of Kino Toronto?

You can come to our next event and see some newly made shorts and connect to the local Kino community. If you want to contribute to the Challenge: Make a maximal 2-minute "Challenge" film for the announced topic. We are going to do a vote by applause amongst all entries. The Winner gets a pitcher of beer from the bar. You can also submit an up to 6-minute "Regular" film about any topic you like. Y

ou must attend the screening because we are doing to do a little Q&A with you. You can also join our newsletter and get all important updates: https://mailchi.mp/d1b0ca4ac238/kinotoronto

What happens if I submit a film that is longer than 2 or 6 minutes? Challenges that are longer than 2 minutes will be screened but have no chance of winning the pitcher of beer. Regular films or Challenges that are longer than 6 minutes might not get screened. We have only a limited amount of time during the event and therefore reserve the right to not screen films that are longer than 6 minutes. How do I submit a film? Upload your film to www.wetransfer.com. Send the link via e-mail to us with all the information you want to share about your project. Tell us if it is a challenge or a regular film. Always bring your film on a USB key to the screening. We try our best but are not invincible against Murphy's law. You can also include a few making-of photos or frame grabs if you want us to feature your film before the screening. Please get consent from the photographer and all visible persons so that we can share these pictures on Facebook and Instagram. What are the technical specifications my editor needs to know? We measure the length of a film until the beginning of the end credits. Your film must include the Kino Toronto logo at the beginning or the end of the film. The logo will be provided upon request. If the film is not in English, please include English subtitles. Film resolution should not exceed 1920 x1080 in a Film format for (MAC) Quick time ProRes 422 or PC MP4 H264 in high quality
Audio parameters: uncompressed audio

CONNECT - SHOOT - SCREEN - REPEAT

Our mission is to CONNECT filmmakers with crew and cast to accelerate the development of skill and talent. We focus on enabling the SHOOTING of short films in a non-competitive and collaborative environment - the only constraint is time. Everyone gets the possibility to SCREEN their films with immediate feedback from our community. REPEATing this process of learning-by-doing while having fun, meeting new people and creating art is our way to approach filmmaking.
