OVERCOME INADEQUACY

Exodus 4:10 (NLT)
But Moses pleaded with the Lord,”O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I got tongue-tied,and my words get tangled.

Moses words in our verse is common response to someone who rely on their strength.
There are times when God calls us to do things that seems beyond our abilities. Like Moses, we think we lack of skills to do what had been asked. Doubts and insecurities grip our hearts, causing us to question whether we can truly serve God’s purpose in our lives.

When God called Moses to go before Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses hesitated. He felt that he can not communicate the message well. But God said “who gave human beings their mouths”? Meaning God is the one who equips and empowers the ones He calls. He assured Moses that He will be with him guiding his words and actions.

Just as God did not overlook on Moses inadequacy, He also sees our doubts and knows our limitations. God chooses us imperfect as we are to accomplish His purpose. And it is in our moment of weakness that the strength of God empowers us. He delights in using us to accomplish extraordinary things for His glory.

When we feel inadequate, let’s remind that our sufficiency comes from God alone. He provides necessary resources, wisdom and strength to carry out his purpose. We can trust that God will equip us exactly what we need, for He will never leave us to face our battles alone.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege to be used in your vineyard, despite of my limited ability. May I never forget that You are the one who made me as I am. Help me to trust You to fulfill the work that you have prepared for me to do. May I learn to speak only the words that I hear from you. May your will be done not mine. In Jesus name, AMEN.

DO NOT LIE TO ONE ANOTHER

Colossians 3:9(NASB)
"do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,

God is truth and the Author of truth, and He delights in truthfulness. Scriptures tells us that the Lord hates liars and those that deceive others with a lying tongue.

Paul instruct us not to lie to one another because as we Christian believers, we have laid aside the old Adamic nature and the evil practices that accompany our former pre- salvation life.

We have died with Christ and have been raised up together with Him into newness of life... and a lying tongue or a mouth that practices deceit, is rooted in the old sin nature. As blood- bought children of God, we have dispensed with the evil ways of that past life. As born- again believers, we have the Seed of Christ within. He is incarnate Truth, and He is permanently abiding in us.

To engage in a sinful practice such as lying, which is hated so intensely by the Lord, should be equally hateful to the one that is walking in spirit and truth. Satan lied to Eve in the beautiful garden and deceived her by twisting the truth and giving her a half-truth, which resulted in the downfall and death of mankind and the loss of man's privileges as God's chosen caretaker of creation. Man's fall resulted in a bitter curse being proclaimed over everything that God had made and that curse continues to this very day.

Scripture reveals in the book of Proverbs, that there are seven things which God hates and which are an abomination to Him, and least three of them relate to lying, twisting the truth, deceiving others, and bearing false witness against our fellow-man.

We read: "there are six things which the LORD hates- yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies and one who spreads strife among brothers."

God hates a lying tongue, a false witness, a deceptive spirit and a foul mouth, and so it is not surprising that such as emphasis is placed on speaking the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, when lies and deception are so hated by the Lord.

As we reflect on the many unguarded things that we have said with our lips, the ungodly thoughts we have manufactured in our hearts, the imaginations we have constructed in our minds, or the part- truths we have planned against our fellow man to protect our own 'integrity'- we begin to realize the magnitude of the twisted nature of our own tongue.

No surprise that Peter instruct us to keep our tongue from evil and our lips from speaking deceit, while James reminds us that our mouth is full of deadly poison and exhorts us to bridle our tongues and to keep from speaking boastfully or twisting our words.

Although it is a small organ of our body, the tongue has the potential to do much damage to our fellow man and it reveals what is secreted within our hearts and we are reminded in Scripture that we have to give an account of every idle word we have spoken.

Although every sinful, careless, or lying word we have uttered, or will utter in the future, has been covered by the blood of Christ and forgiven, nevertheless we have the responsibility to speak only those things that glorify our Saviour and honour His name. God, who reads the hearts of men. Know that the words that proceed from our mouth are originally conceived within our heart.

And so we are instructed to take every thought captive to Christ so thought cannot be translated into a lying tongue or a false witness. Let us therefore take to heart these word of instruction: "Do not lie to one another, since you laid the old self, with its evil practices".

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I know that there are many times when the words I have uttered have dishonoured Your name. Forgive me for the times that I have lied, been careless in my speech, engaged in any form of double-talk, or massaged the truth for my own personal gain.

I pray that from this day forward, the thoughts that develop in my mind would immediately be taken captive to You so that the words that proceed from my mouth would honour Your name and bring glory to You. We honour and glorify Your name, this we ask in Jesus' name. Amen!

GOD’S SPIRIT DWELLS IN US

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self discipline.

This is a powerful verse in which the Apostle Paul encourages Timothy his young protégé to embrace courage and faith despite challenges and fear.

Paul reminds Timothy that God has not given believers a spirit of fear or timidity, but a spirit filled with power, love, and self-discipline.

This verse emphasizes that fear is not from God instead, God equips His followers with spiritual resources to overcome anxiety, doubt and hesitation.

This verse serves as a source of hope and encouragement for anyone facing fear, uncertainty or challenges. It reminds us that we are not alone, that God’s spirit dwells within us providing strength beyond our abilities. So whatever we may going through we should always remember 2 Timothy 1:7.

It encourages us to trust in God’s spirit that through God we can face challenges, make choices and act with love and courage in all circumstances.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your word that you revealed to us today! Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, who empower us and giving us strength to face challenges in our life. Indeed God, apart from you we can do nothing. Lord, guide our steps today that whatever we do it will glorify you and lead us to the right direction. We honor you, we praise you in Jesus name we pray. Amen!

THE ASSURANCE OF FAITH

MARK 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Do we really believe if someone promises us something? Some of us fall short on completing something we said or do something to someone we had promised.

Like a parent to their child, or to a friend. But as a believer we can rest as sure that we have that someone, only in Jesus Christ. We can definitely believe that when God promises he will do it, because God has the power to do what He said.

In Romans 4:21 “Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he has promised.” Our scripture for today is a promise of God “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

This “believing you have received it” is about the attitude of our heart. It encouraged us to always pray and not lose heart, even when the answers seem delayed. Prayer is characterized as hard work that engages our understanding, our heart, and our will. We must not lose heart in our prayer, but instead remain persistent, knowing that God is a righteous and loving God who cares deeply for His children.

While we bring our request to God, the purpose of our prayer is simply to dwell in His presence. Even though we are in the highest season of our life or in the lowest, the essential promise that sustains our faith is that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Like what says in our scripture “believing you have received it”, when we believe we have received what we ask for, that is ultimately resting in the truth that God is with us wherever we go.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you for another day, thank you for the life and thank you for the gift of prayer and Your constant presence. Grant us the faith to believe in Your goodness, faithfulness even when the answer is not yet seen. Grant us the persistent heart to seek Your will and understanding. Glory, honor, praise and thanksgiving in this I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS

“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!” Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭11‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

The phrase when life gives you lemons means to be optimistic even in the midst of adversity. According to Google, this was popularized by Elbert Hubbard when he referenced it in a 1915 obituary praising actor Marshall Pinckney Wilder for his optimistic approach to life despite disabilities.

This may be easier said than done. Let us be honest. When we are facing various adversities of all sorts, the first question we have and the first we question is "Why, God?" We begin to compare our misfortunes with the fortunes of others.

This may be a natural response but it is not what should be pondered upon.

In the verse, this was what the descendants of Korah felt. They were discouraged, disgusted, disappointed and all. They were at the point of breaking. They were almost about to give up but one thing they did, when life gave them lemons- they made a lemonade.

They began to praise God. As they looked upon God, it was inevitable for them to look back and remember how God has been faithful for them. The word "again" on the verse was so powerful that reminds them of their second and third and fourth and so on chances to worship and praise the Lord. Instead of looking further on how awry their situation was, a great shift happened when they praised the Lord AGAIN.

As they put their trust in Him, their hope began to rise and stir up the faith in them. Doing so rekindled their faith acknowledging the Lord as their Savior and God.

When we are in a distressing situation, learn to praise and raise a hallelujah to the Lord and see how He will deliver you from it. He knows and sees everything about us.

PRAYER
God Almighty, Wonderful and Ever True God, we come to you in utter humility. We acknowledge our weaknesses. We admit that when we face challenges, we tend to murmur, complain and compare that result in words that would affect our faith. But thank you for this word that we received, we have all the reason to celebrate because you are our God and Savior. We have a God like You. We pray to help us always look in the richness of your grace and abounding tender mercies that are readily available. These we pray, IN JESUS' NAME, Amen!

ASK, TRUST, AND RECEIVE

John 16:24
“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

There are times when we have so much on our minds that we forget we can simply bring everything to God. We try to figure everything out, plan ahead, and worry about what might happen next.

Recently, I realized how hard it is to do things on my own strength. I get tired and stressed trying to plan everything and make sure everything goes well. I also came across a reel that made me realize how often anxiety can grow when our minds are focused on things that haven’t even happened yet. We create different scenarios in our minds and carry the weight of tomorrow before it even comes.

But this passage reminded me that I have a God whom I can call upon. Jesus tells us to ask. Instead of carrying every “what if” on our own, we can bring them to Him in prayer. It doesn’t mean everything suddenly becomes easy, but the burden becomes lighter when we surrender what we cannot control to God.

Therefore, ask the Lord for whatever you need, especially in the things you know you cannot do on your own. Trust that He hears every prayer and knows exactly what you need even before you ask. The answer may not always come the way we expect, but we can trust that He will provide according to His will and at the right time.

PRAYER
Father God, we thank you for your word today. We thank you for giving us the privilege to ask you and for the assurance that you will hear our prayers. Remind us, Lord, that you are with us and thay we don’t have to carry everything on our own. Help us to surrender our worries to you and to trust your will, purpose, and timing Lord. We love you, Lord, and we give you all the praise, honor, and glory. In Jesus Name, Amen.

SEE BEYOND THE SUFFERING

Hebrews 12:2
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Have you experienced a tooth ache so severe that every part of your body hurts too? That’s what pain does to us—our human brain hyperfixates on the pain and suffering, and make it seem like nothing else matters but the pain we are dealing with. Everything gets disrupted, all you want to do is curl up in bed under your cover and give up on life.

Our verse today teaches us how to avoid hyper focusing on our problems and sufferings in life. Jesus is truly our best example for this. He endured every bit of punishment that was thrown on his body. He was mocked and tossed like a common criminal. He was humiliatingly displayed on a cross that was not meant for Him.

But He endured it all for the price of something that will bring Him great joy—to defeat death. to see people be reconciled back to the Father. To save people from sin. The pain was great, but the joy was far greater.

Brothers and sisters, there would be days when enduring the aches of this world seems impossible. Giving up sounds like a great idea. But just like Jesus, see beyond the suffering. Know that the present troubles we have in this world is but temporary. Be reminded that we have a God who is able to guide us through life.

As the verse opens—look to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith. So keep going, keep pushing and keep moving forward, and know that the Lord our God will be there with you every step of the way.

PRAYER
We glorify You Oh Most High God. Thank you for being the perfector of our faith. Thank You for remindung us today to see beyond our current uneventful situations and look forward to what You have set for us. Give us the courage to walk in faith, and to always look up to you, Jesus. We love You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.

Zechariah offered this words from God to a leader named Zerubbabel who in turn to be in a difficult position being ask to accomplish a seemingly insurmountable task.

Just like Zerubbabel who is wise and strong, we do not accomplish great things just because of our great skills and strength but rather because of our dependance on God.

And when we looses our vision of whatever we’re working towards depending on our own strengths and capabilities, the moment we stopped fighting in our own strength and handed it to God — that will be the moment.

Run to God, for God’s power is perfect in weaknesses and everything will be shifted according to his will and perfect plan as we entrust and surrender all our cares and worries unto Him.

PRAYER
Lord Almighty thank you Father for you are always present in times of our weakness. Help us O God, to always depend on your power and not on our own strength to accomplish the task you give us. Today O Lord, we put our trust in you. As we move forward, we pray that your power will help us. Thank you Lord, In Jesus Name, Amen!
