This week the Waterfront Regeneration Trust and Land Over Landings met with about 80 parliamentarians and staff talk about transferring all of the 9,300 acres of Pickering Federal Lands into the Rouge National Urban Park--Canada's first and the only park with a mandate to protect and celebrate both nature and agriculture.
These lands are rich in natural assets and hold some of Canada's best farmland. Perfect fit for the park!

Looking for a place to ride this weekend? Waterfront Regeneration Trust Board chair, Keith Laushway highly recommends the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area.
Start in Marie Curtis Park and ride 2 km along the new Waterfront Trail. Soon this will connect seamlessly to Lakeview Village on the west!
Named after long-time waterfront advocate, Mississauga Councillor Jim Tovey, the conservation area created public access where none existed in addition to restoring and creating wetlands, aquatic habitat, meadows.
Visit here for a map and more information about the park. https://cvc.ca/discover-our-parks/jim-tovey-lakeview-conservation-area/

Thank you Senator Black for all your work to highlighting the need to protect our prime farm land. It was a wonderful evening filled with great conversation about a once in a generation opportunity to expand the only National Park with a mandate to protect nature and agriculture. Thank you Minister Anandasangaree for the invitation and long time support for the Rouge National Urban Park! Great to hear meet and hear Minister Dabrusin speak about the Government’s ambitious plan for urban national parks!

Thank you Blind River— you’re a joy to work with and a great place to visit!!!

We’re thrilled to have a long standing network at both the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail and Trans Canada Trail organizations. When we need support, both groups are there without hesitation.

Additionally our community works closely with Mississauga First Nation to leverage many opportunities each year in order to ensure our sections of the WORLD’S largest multi use trail are fun, inviting, and used by residents and locals alike.

Fun fact: Our lollipop loop project resulted in FOUR Tourism Awards!

The Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area is open!!! Check out all the fun activities planned for this weekend. https://cvc.ca/discover-our-parks/jim-tovey-lakeview-conservation-area/

It brings 1.9km of new Great Lakes Waterfront Trail to enjoy! Please put this incredible new park experience on your summer to do list. It represents years of advocacy led by Jim Tovey, a Mississauga advocate and City Councillor who had the ambitious vision to make the lands south of the treatment plant accessible and example of waterfront revitalization. And then there is the design and ecological expertise of Credit Valley Conservation Authority and the Toronto Region Conservation Authority who do what they do so well -- designed and built a space where nature could thrive, people could enjoy, and Indigenous heritage could be honored and celebrated.

It is gorgeous and will be even more beautiful as thousands of plantings mature and grow over the years.

We were proud to play our modest role in helping to realize another example of David Crombie's Regeneration recommendations come to life. Our gratitude to JIm Tovey and to the many, many partners and funders including the Government of Canada, Province of Ontario. Peel Region, City of Mississauga, community and resident groups and corporate supporters!

Discover Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area (JTLCA) in Mississauga. Explore new greenspace by the lake. Enjoy cycling, birding, hiking and photography along the Waterfront Trails.
