The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators supports the provincial and territorial physiotherapy regulators across Canada, delivering evaluation, knowledge brokering and policy services. The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) is a pan-Canadian federation of provincial and territorial organizations (usually called Colleges) that regulate the practice of physiotherapy in Canada. CAPR’s Evaluation Services include credentialling and competency assessment: we review the education and qualifications of internationally-educated applicants to determine whether or not they are substantially different from those of Canadian-educated physiotherapists. For both Canadian- and internationally-educated physiotherapists, we administer the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) to determine a candidate’s readiness for safe, effective and independent physiotherapy practice. In addition, CAPR supports its member organizations through the provision of knowledge brokering and policy services for the advancement of regulatory standards of physiotherapy practice. CAPR develops regulatory policy positions on issues of importance to Members that are best addressed at a pan-Canadian level, as well as serves as a collective regulatory voice with governments and other external stakeholders. On behalf of the Members, CAPR collaborates with other organizations on projects with national and international scope related to the regulation of physiotherapy. L’Alliance canadienne des organismes de réglementation de la physiothérapie (l’Alliance) est une fédération canadienne des organismes de réglementation provinciaux et territoriaux (habituellement appelés ordres) qui régissent la pratique de la physiothérapie au Canada. Notre principale activité vise à assurer l’administration des services d’évaluation au nom de nos membres. Les services d’évaluation de l’Alliance comprennent l’évaluation des diplômes et des compétences. Nous examinons la formation et les qualifications des candidats formés à l’étranger afin de déterminer si elles sont substantiellement différentes de celles des physiothérapeutes formés au Canada. Nous faisons passer l’examen de compétence en physiothérapie aux physiothérapeutes formés à l’étranger et au Canada afin de déterminer la préparation d’un candidat à exercer la physiothérapie de manière sécuritaire, efficace et autonome. En outre, l’Alliance soutient ses organisations membresen offrant des services d’élaboration de politiques et de courtage des connaissances afin de contribuer à l’avancement des normes de réglementation de la physiothérapie. L’Alliance adopte des positions en matière de réglementation dans des dossiers importants pour les membres qui sont mieux traités à l’échelle canadienne; elle agit aussi comme porte-parole collectif en matière de réglementation auprès des gouvernements et d’autres intervenants externes. Au nom des membres, l’Alliance collabore avec d’autres organisations à des projets d’envergure nationale et internationale liés à la réglementation de la physiothérapie. Nous réalisons ce travail dans l’intérêt du public.
