9 shy cats are waiting in cages. Could you give one a quiet room? 💔

Since September 11, these cats from a hoarding rescue have been living in cages at vet clinics and our Recovery Centre. They’re cared for, but they’re frightened, and they urgently need a chance to decompress outside a cage.

None of them are aggressive. They just need:
🏠 A small, quiet, secure room
⏳ Patience to let them hide and set the pace
🤍 No pressure to be touched or held

You don’t need to turn them into lap cats. You’d be giving them a safe space and a chance.

Spot the difference. 🎨😻

Meet Sir Fluff and his lookalike! His foster mom won this painting at our Bowl-a-thon silent auction, and the resemblance is uncanny.

When Sir Fluff first arrived, he was struggling with major fur loss, scabs and tummy troubles. Today his coat is long and gorgeous, and his health is stable and managed. He's a sweet, curious, clever boy who will supervise your cooking, greet you at the door and curl up beside you on the sofa. 🖤

He's diabetic and needs insulin, plus a special diet for his bladder and skin. He's looking for someone ready to work with their vet and see the wonderful cat beyond the care plan. For this special boy, the adoption fee is pay what you can. 👑

And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made Bowl-a-thon 2026 happen. Together we raised nearly $55K for cats like Sir Fluff! 🎳

Behind every foster cat who finds their way to a loving home, there is a Foster Coordinator making sure the journey goes smoothly.

Toronto Cat Rescue has no main shelter. Most of our cats live in over 500 foster homes across the city, and we're looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team as Foster Coordinators! 💙

📍 Location: Remote, from home

🕒 Commitment: Daily email monitoring, minimum 1-year commitment

💻 Requirements: 18+, daily email access, advanced familiarity with G Suite

What you'll do:

Act as the main TCR point of contact for foster homes
Support foster cats and families from start to finish
Keep communication organized and moving every day

This role takes patience and strong organizational skills. It can be time-consuming and sometimes stressful, and it takes up to a year to fully learn. The difference you'll make in the lives of hundreds of cats is well worth it.

This day is also a call to move forward together with greater understanding. We are committed to continuing to learn, to doing our part in creating a more inclusive community, and to fostering empathy for all living beings.

If you’ve seen Baked Bean before, you’ve probably wondered why he’s always rocking a stylish t-shirt and a cone... 🤔🐾

Baked Bean has a rare, non-contagious genetic condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Because his body produces low collagen, his skin is exceptionally fragile. A regular back-leg scratch or playful tumble that wouldn't bother another cat can easily cause serious skin tears for Bean. His shirt and cone keep him safe and sound 24 hours a day.

But don't let the outfit fool you! Bean is full of energy, purrs, and endless affection! When he isn't clocking in for duty batting around his favourite fishing wand toy, he’s racing to the door to greet his foster family and curling up on laps.

Behind every community cat who gets a second chance at a healthy life, there is a dedicated team making sure they have a safe, quiet space to recover.

Toronto Cat Rescue is actively recruiting volunteers to join us as Recovery Centre Attendants! 💙

📍 Location: Scarborough (near Scarborough Town Centre)

🕒 Commitment: Weekly shift (approx. 2–3 hours, minimum 6-month commitment)

🚗 Transportation: Access to a vehicle strongly recommended

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate cat intakes and post-surgery discharges

• Coordinate humane trap rentals for community caretakers

• Keep the recovery facility sanitized, clean, and organized (laundry, dishes, sweeping, sanitizing)

• Monitor inventory supplies and assist recovery volunteers

Working with community cats is a critical component of Trap-Neuter-Return (Maintain)—the most humane approach to managing cat overpopulation.
