U.S. prosecutors say a Kata'ib Hezbollah member claimed responsibility for shootings at a Toronto synagogue and the U.S. consulate.

But the pro-Iran Shia militia based in Iraq is not on Canada’s list of terrorist entities.

It's time that becomes a reality.

Canada must never be a safe haven for extremists, terrorists, or violent radicals. The federal government has a fundamental responsibility to protect Canadians and confront threats to our national security.

An open letter in The Suburban Newspaper, signed by a group of Quebec lawyers, speaks on the upcoming August 24 City Council vote in , where they will vote on a motion to denounce Israel as an “apartheid regime”, declare that a “genocide” is being perpetrated, and suspend ties with the Israeli government, its institutions, and its municipalities.

The lawyers correctly make a fundamental point: Montreal City Council is not an international court and does not determine international law. To date, the International Court of Justice has never ruled that Israel is committing “genocide” or that Israel constitutes an “apartheid regime.”

Rather than passing sweeping declarations about a complex conflict thousands of kilometres away, Montreal City Council should focus on what is happening on its own streets.

For the past three years, Montreal has witnessed repeated incidents of extremism, intimidation and antisemitism. The City’s priority should be ensuring Jewish Montrealers can live safely and without fear, not issuing its own verdicts on international law.

This is Neil Saravanamuttoo, and he is running for Mayor of Ottawa, but judging by his campaign video, one might think he is campaigning to govern Gaza.

Rather than explaining how he would improve life for Ottawa residents, Saravanamuttoo focuses entirely on the war in Gaza, repeats the false claim that 70,000 civilians are dead, while fully excluding Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups from that figure, and then accuses Israel of the false genocide libel.

Ottawans deserve to hear how a mayoral candidate plans to address the issues affecting THEIR city, not an anti-Israel account of a conflict taking place thousands of kilometres away.

In the National Post, Mohamed Fahmy writes that many normal, moderate Lebanese people would love to see peace with Israel come to fruition.

But as long as Hezbollah remains an armed and destabilizing force within Lebanon, that hope cannot become a reality.

🚨 Rick Salutin’s August 18 Toronto Star column purports to examine rising antisemitism, all while in our view, bizarrely casting doubt on the reality of anti-Jewish hate. In our estimation, he reduces the recognition of antisemitism’s ability to evolve to an “article of faith,” while appearing to be unable or unwilling to state any actual position.

There are many important ways that the media can address Jew-hate, namely how to meaningfully address it. Instead, Salutin’s column offered little of value at all.

Rick Salutin’s August 18 opinion column in The Toronto Star, “A conversation about the current state of antisemitism,” appears to be all over the place, lamenting a rise in antisemitism all while putting scare quotes around a study which found there has been an indisputable rise in hate crimes...

🚨 In our view, a new Toronto Star feature by writer Fin de Pencier devotes some 2,300 words over a 3-page spread to portraying Israelis living in Judea & Samaria (the “West Bank” in media parlance) as seemingly radical “settlers,” while sympathetically profiling Israeli activists who oppose them.

The article extensively highlights allegations of alleged “settler” violence while offering little meaningful information about Palestinian terrorism or studies which have found such Israeli violence is grossly overstated. Meanwhile, in our estimation, Israel’s presence in its ancient lands continues to be delegitimized by The Toronto Star.

🔗

The presence of Jews living in their historic lands continues to serve as a source of immense fixation in many corners of the Canadian news media, and a new Toronto Star article continues to demonstrate that obsession. In an August 16 special report in The Toronto Star, writer Fin de Pencier – who...

⚠️ We have said this from Day 1:

Until Gaza is deradicalized, there can be no peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Watch as a Palestinian Islamic cleric in Gaza calls on Muslims to stab Jews, restrain them, attack them in groups with axes and knives, and cut them into body parts.

🚨16 Palestinians have been caught by Israeli border police after hiding inside a double-wall compartment of a truck attempting to enter Israel illegally.

The driver was also arrested.

This is exactly why security checkpoints remain absolutely necessary.
