A to our solidarity lunch at Kiva's , after two of its locations were shot up in coordinated attacks against the Jewish-owned bakery chain.

CBC/Radio-Canada covered the gathering of AVI staff and various community members of all backgrounds, as they shared words of support and solidarity, making it onto other local and national news outlets such as Global News and CP24!

In the face of all this fear, it was refreshing and touching to see members of Toronto’s Christian, Iranian, Hindu, Somalilander, and Chinese communities show up with sentiments of unity, compassion, and support for Toronto’s Jewish community.

Israel & Venezuela Rebuild Ties 🇮🇱🇻🇪

After 17 years without diplomatic relations, Israel and Venezuela are taking a historic step toward rebuilding ties.

In 2009, Hugo Chávez severed diplomatic relations with Israel, following Israel’s military operation in Gaza. Chávez's Venezuela was also closely aligned with Iran and was one of Israel's most outspoken opponents in Latin America.

Then several things changed dramatically in 2026.

After Nicolás Maduro was removed from power in January 2026 and interim President Delcy Rodríguez took over, Venezuela began moving away from its previous geopolitical alignment and toward engagement with the United States and other Western countries. Venezuela and the U.S. subsequently agreed to restore diplomatic and consular relations.

Following devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, Israel sent a humanitarian rescue delegation to assist those affected — marking a rare moment of cooperation between the two countries.

Now, Venezuela has agreed to establish a mechanism for consular services with Israel, signaling a rekindling of relations and a potential path toward the restoration of full diplomatic ties.

From 17 years of separation to humanitarian cooperation — a remarkable shift in the relationship between Israel and Venezuela.

A new chapter may be beginning.

Beauty giant Sephora is officially coming to Israel! 💄⁠

The launch will begin with six Sephora stores and five in-store boutiques, giving the brand 11 locations across Israel. The Israeli launch will start smaller than a typical Sephora store overseas. During the first stage, locations will mainly sell Sephora Collection, the company’s own line of makeup, skincare and beauty products. Popular brands such as Rare Beauty, Fenty Beauty, and Charlotte Tilbury will not initially be available.⁠

The global beauty retailer has had somewhat of a contentious relationship with some Israeli consumers the last few years, carrying brands such as Huda Beauty and SimiHaze Beauty, whose founders have publicly spread false and hateful propaganda about Israel and the devastating terrorist attacks it has endured at the hands of Hamas. Despite their slanderous and antisemitic claims, Sephora is yet to pull their products from shelves.⁠

Despite these controversies, we see this retail launch across Israel as a positive step, and hope that these new stores will be well received by the Israeli market.

On our Israel trip with Israël à Montréal , Fanshawe College student Ajax Media and University of Toronto student Rhyenne comment on the concerning findings of Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) is distraught but unfortunately unsurprised by the findings of a new major national survey of Jewish university students released in collaboration with The Office of the Special Envoy and NECA.

The survey presents the experiences of Canadian-Jewish postsecondary students with all forms of antisemitism.

Both George and Rhyenne were unsurprised by the findings, and spoke on how the concerning statistics only strengthened their purpose and passion for coming on this trip.
