Weโ€™re very excited to support Take a Hike Foundation's Saanich Program, helping local youth experiencing vulnerability build confidence, connection, and new skills through outdoor experiences.

At the end of May, youth from the program headed to Montague Harbour on Galiano Island for a three-day, two-night adventure. Time in nature, away from the classroom, creates opportunities to discover what theyโ€™re capable of.

Weโ€™re proud to support programs that help local youth feel connected, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

๐Ÿ’™ Big Cheque Presentation Day!

We were proud to present a $5,000 grant to Human Nature Counselling Society.

As Executive Director David Segal shared:

โ€œThe Saanich Peninsula Community Foundationโ€™s support helps make it possible for us to bring mental health counselling directly to vulnerable youth who otherwise would have gone without it. Over 850 hours of service and 50 youth reached. Those are real kids, in real schools, getting real care. We are grateful to SPCF for believing in this work and in the community it serves.โ€

Weโ€™re grateful to our donors who make grants like this possible and help local organizations make a real difference in the lives of Peninsula residents. ๐Ÿ’™

Another Big Cheque Presentation Day! We were proud to present a $1,900 grant to the Peninsula Celebrations Society, a volunteer-run organization that has been bringing our community together for more than 40 years.

This year's grant helped support one of the Peninsula's favourite traditions: the 10th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Dominion Brook Park. On a beautiful sunny April afternoon, up to 2,000 children and their families came together to enjoy an afternoon filled with fun, laughter, and chocolate eggs!

We're proud to support organizations like the Peninsula Celebrations Society that create opportunities for families in our community to connect and make lasting memories.

Together, we're growing a better community, grant by grant. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ธ Big Cheque Presentation Day!

We were delighted to present a $3,850 grant to the Sidney Museum in support of their new waterfront interpretive panels.

Pictured are Charlie and Tim from the Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation with Michael Goodchild, Executive Director of the Sidney Museum and Archives.

The new panels build on the original waterfront displays by sharing a broader range of stories that reflect the many cultural, economic, and natural influences that have shaped the Saanich Peninsula. They also include traditional WฬฑSรNEฤ† stories, helping residents and visitors connect more deeply with the history of the place we call home.

Through the generosity of our donors, we're proud to support projects that preserve our local heritage, celebrate diverse voices, and bring our community's stories to life.

Coming soon: read our story about this great project in the August issue of Seaside Magazine ๐Ÿ’™

We were delighted to present a $3,000 grant to the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea. Here we are with Tina Kelly, Director of Learning & Communications, and Rowan, one of the Centre's Visitors Experience Team.

The grant supported this year's World Ocean Day Celebration, held last month in Beacon Park along the SETINES/Sidney waterfront. The event brought our community together for a day of discovery and fun, featuring science and conservation exhibits, art stations, touch pools, games, interactive activities, and more.

We're proud to support this community event that connect people of all ages with the incredible Salish Sea. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ธ Cheque Presentation Day!

We were pleased to meet with Sam, Executive Director, and Carissa, Director of Client Services, from the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre (VSAC), one of our 2026 grant recipients.

Their $5,000 Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation grant will support VSAC's Volunteer Wellbeing and Community Initiative, helping to reduce volunteer burnout, strengthen volunteer retention, sustain 24/7 crisis response for Peninsula residents, and support the dedicated frontline responders who help survivors when they need it most.

Peninsula residents rely on VSAC as the region's specialized sexual assault service provider. Research shows that when survivors receive a compassionate first response, it can have a profound impact on their long-term recovery.

We're proud to support organizations making such an important difference in our community.
