I just attended the District L Conference in Vancouver. The highlight of the Conferene for me was the presentation given by PIP Brian Sheehan. The best I've ever heard! Brian comes from the small town of Bird Island Minnnesota. The population is 959 and yet they have 84 members in their Lions Club. And no it's not an island. Everything the Lions of District L did was "Awesome" and "That's a fact Jack!" was interspersed throughout his awesome talk.

We are Serving Up Community Support!

Heading to the Sidney Sparkles Parade this Sunday, December 7? Be sure to stop by the Sidney Lions rig at the corner of Fourth and Beacon! Enjoy burgers, hot dogs, fries, and onion rings to fuel your parade fun, plus a hot apple cider or chocolate to warm up while supporting a great cause.

Every bite counts! Proceeds from the menu go back into the community, helping individuals in need and supporting organizations such as Girl Guides and Scouts, White Cane Society, Camp Shawnigan, and programs for eyeglasses, hearing, and guide dogs.

Come for the parade, savour some food, and help make a difference in your community.
Looking forward to serving you!

On Oct 1st the Sidney Lions served burgers, dogs, onion rings, French fries, etc. to the Cops for Cancer riders at the Sidney Firehall. They had just come from Parkland School, on their 1200 km ride from Port Alice. The burgers and dogs plus oranges were donated by Thrifty's. Level Ground donated the coffee. Kenny Podmore, Mike Harman, and Julie Harman were at the helm of arranging this amazing community event.

Our newest prospective member is Piyumani Dissanayake. She was a Leo in Sri Lanka 5 years ago and will be joining our club shortly. She was a great help at our recent event, The Victoria Model Train Show at the Mary Winspear. She was helping Brenda on the grill and was willing to help where needed and with cleanup. Piyumani will be a great addition to our club.
