The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is an aquarium and learning centre focused on the amazing ecosystem of the Salish Sea. The Centre displays over 3,500 live marine animals, a marine mammal artifact exhibit, and a Coast Salish art display. The mission of the Centre is to create experiences that engage people to learn about, explore and conserve the Salish Sea Bioregion – its wildlife, waters, land, culture, and people. Hours are 10AM-4:30PM (last entrance at 4PM) daily except Wednesdays. Please note that some of the posts we publish on Facebook do include content that promotes upcoming programs and events. Sunday was a fulfilling day of making a difference.

We (staff and keen volunteers) joined Emerald Sea Protection Society, Surfrider Foundation South Vancouver Island and Be Sea Adventures to help make the seafloor under the fishing pier a little cleaner.

In four hours, 17 people worked together to remove 544lbs of debris. Sea life was carefully removed or disentangled and returned to the water. The derelict ropes, crab traps and other trash was hauled away.

Collaboration for good!

Restock ALREADY? Backcountry Bandanas!

No surprise, really; when fun new products arrive, staff scoop them up just as much as visitors.

These bandanas are 100% cotton and silkscreened with water-based ink.
The patterns are AWESOME—salmon, paintbrush, mountain meadow, fireweed and bunchberry.
