British Columbia Environmental Film Festival-BCEFF

British Columbia Environmental Film Festival-BCEFF Science Base International Environmental Film Festival in British Columbia , Canada

British Columbia Environmental Film Festival (BCEFF) Society will bring together film makers and scientists to share stories about our environment through film. Using innovative ways of mass communication, we will introduce science-based films from around the world to Canada that will inject fact-based knowledge, interest, and passion for environmental issues. Our annual film festival will showcas

e fact-checked science-based films with an environmental theme. Through other events such as filmmaking workshops, we will better facilitate the collaboration between film makers, scientists, and distributors. With a background in international film making, we will bring a unique form of communication to engage those who aren’t always involved in science, including new Canadians,BIPOC communities , LGBTQ2S+ Community and Women. We will work in conjunction with other organizations, teams, and individuals to foster, develop, and grow in societal awareness of environmental issues and provide a means to facilitate positive and proactive communications with the greater global community.

The British Columbia Environmental Film Festival (BCEFF) is a registered non-profit organization and charity based in British Columbia, Canada. Founded by filmmaker Pezhman Hadavi and oceanographer Jennifer Jackson, BCEFF was created to bridge science and cinema in the service of our planet.

With strong connections to the global science community and universities, BCEFF promotes environmental films not only across Canada but also internationally. We have already hosted screenings in Vancouver, Victoria, Nicosia (Cyprus), Nairobi (Kenya), and Kigali (Rwanda) - sharing powerful stories with diverse audiences.

Through our annual festival, international events, and specialized workshops, we connect filmmakers with scientists to inspire the creation of science-based, educational environmental films and documentaries. By combining creative storytelling with expert knowledge, BCEFF fosters meaningful dialogue, builds partnerships, and empowers communities to take action on the environmental challenges we all face.
