On this World Mission Sunday, as we pray for missionaries across the globe and all those to whom they are striving to bring Jesus and his saving work, we have in the Gospel a reminder of the heart of the Gospel: that God has made us out of love in his own image and likeness, that we are his, and he calls us to life with him. For the past 100 years, Catholics around the world and right here in Canada have supported World Mission Sunday, playing thereby an important role in sharing Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging a relationship with him. This act of love and solidarity is made possible today thanks to your prayers and financial support. As we approach the 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday this Sunday, we are reminded that the Church’s mission belongs to all of us. It is core to who we are as missionary disciples, united in he who sustains us in all things. Through prayer, donations and acts of solidarity, we can continue to support missionaries and help carry Christ’s mission forward.

Thank you for 100 years of prayer, generosity and solidarity. Your support has helped sustain the Church’s mission around the world, and together, we can continue bringing the Good News to those who need it most.

As we celebrate the 100th World Mission Sunday, October 18, Pope Leo XIV invites us to remember the missionary spirit that has united Catholics around the world for a century.



Under the theme “One in Christ, United in Mission,” the Pope invites us to support the Church’s missionary nature and work, sharing the Gospel of God’s love to people everywhere, especially those most in need, through our prayers, generosity and our own vocations.

For the Sundays of Missionary Month in October 2026, we are pleased to share with you some of the meditations prepared for the month as part of a collaborative initiative involving the National Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Italy, India and the United States, together with the PMU International Secretariat.

The commentaries on the biblical readings for Missionary Month have been sent by email to all the PMS National Directors, who may use them in their various missionary animation activities.
