Good afternoon Aamjiwnaang,

The Ministry of Natural Resources is seeking input from Indigenous communities regarding potential opportunities to stock Bluegill in select waterbodies in Southwestern Ontario.

The purpose of this initiative is to enhance recreational angling opportunities and increase public access to fishing experiences that were consistent with fisheries management objectives and ecological considerations. This work aligns with Ontario's provincial fish strategy, which supports sustainable fisheries that provide economic, social, cultural, and recreational benefits.

The survey is open to Aamjiwnaang members, please fill out the short survey for your chance at winning a gift card. **Deadline for surveys is Friday, August 21, 2026 at 12pm.

Miigwech/Thank you,
Aamjiwnaang Environment Staff

Aanii/Boozhoo Aamjiwnaang members,

Please see the flyer below. July 31 to August 9th 2026 we are looking to gather information about Monarch butterfly sightings. It's a great way to get outside and enjoy the summer sun while also helping a great initiative.

Getting involved is simple: during the 10 days of the Monarch Blitz, head outside, look for milkweed plants and monarchs (eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises or butterflies) and share your observations through the data platform of a participating community program. It’s that easy!
